Hi from UK.. Q about advanced nutes!

Firstly let me introduce myself, I'm from over the otherside of the pond and have been lurking in the shadows on this forum for a while so I thought I best join up..
I've got a few f&d grows under my belt with good success but I'm in the middle of my first attempt at coco and its been a friggin ball ache to be honest...

I've read alot about AN ph perfect nutes and I was wondering if any of you could give me the heads up on them..

I've been having ph issues with my regular nutes (Plant Magic made in uk) and have been burning them by using ph down excessively to get ph down to 5.8 that I initially thought was the nutes (dumb eh?). So half way through I've decided to take the plunge on AN sensi php after a bit of advice from the dude in my local grow shop..

My question is how does php work cos I'm reading conflicting information?

Does it lower your solution down to an acceptable ph range when following the bottle without the need to ph OR does it allow the plant to take up nutes in a ph range where they wouldn't normally be available to the plant??

I've just transplanted my 4 white russians into my final 20L pots and flushed all the old nutes out of my coco, I've mixed up 2ml a+b p/l (EC 1.2) and its only took my ph down from 7.6 (hard water) down to 6.9.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Peace

What I'm reading on the forum is that advanced nutrients is a pretty stable ph,but they have so many different additives and supplements you can buy it can be difficult to get a perfect balance.

everyone on here is ranting and raving about house and garden,go check out the 135 page thread about it.
lots of really good information,I'm considering getting the full lineup

Thanks for the swift reply fella.

I'm only using the sensi A+B grow at the mo although I have got the bloom, bigbud and overdrive waiting for when I flip. It cost me just shy of £100 for this juice so I'm gona have to roll with these for now.. My mate uses h+g and swears by them, fortunately he has super soft water, my supply is shit (.4 background).

I'm just wondering if they do as they say on the bottle cos my ph meter is telling me a different story. Unless they make the nutrients available at crazy ranges that is..I'm confused.

Probably a bit of good marketing coupled with clever salesmanship from the dude in the shop.

Your sales rep sounds like a dick...Did he even ask what kind of water you use?

If you are not using r/o water the ph perfect line will only do so much. Hard water will vary from place to place. My water was in the same range and for years I used gallons of down to stabilize my water and never had an issue burning my plants? Unless you used the ph down in a way that you went way down to a ph of 3.0 for example, then without re-adjusting the water and giving your girls a drink, yes you can hurt them. As long as your feeding in the range of 5-6 to 5.9 no amount of ph down will hurt them.

Doesn't sound like a ph down issue to me. Do you have any pics??

This is a common issue with AN products, in general the Knee-an-dra-thawls behind the counter have little to no knowledge or actual experience and is there just to take your money. Being AN is the most complex line of product it usually is the most abused in this method and is way over the head of the salesperson at the store making min. wage.

Do your own homework and do not trust advice given without it!

Good Luck

pH Perfect Technology is certified to work best with low-mineralized water having an EC of less than 160 μS/cm—roughly equivalent to 100 ppm. In most cases, pH Perfect delivers good results in water having an EC of up to 320 S/cm—approximately 200 ppm;

Is there any way you can go RO? Your water is thick soup that any nute would have trouble with.

I've been using the ph perfect line with little issues. The only problem I've had was personal error and burnt them a little. But I backed off the feed and its working great now. To start out, my water comes out around 7.3 or 7.4 on average. And I think my ppm is around 250-300. Make sure your additives also have the ph perfect sticker or you may have old ones. I have some powder tarantula and pirhanna that won't buffer themselves. I also add dyna gro pro-tekt and depending on how much I use, it can also be too much for the buffers to change on their own. If that's the case, I just use some general hydroponics ph down. It doesn't usually take much. Maybe let your nutes sit longer after you mix them to let the buffers do their thing.

hi dude

am in the same boat i mixed it up took ph reading dint even change my ph i used 1 and half ml in 5 litres
if your using the sensi line, it calls for 4 mils per liter of a and b. I found that was too hot for the strains I'm growing so I backed it off to half strength. Maybe your not using enough, or you have bad water.

my water is 7.2 my plants are young and feed them with 1 and half ml for 5 litres

just took ph and been sitting for a day and still same ph

really you think my plant could handle it? guess could add 1ml more more to the mix i made and see if it changes the ph what should it change to?

Are they clones or seedlings? I've only ever worked with clones, but its my understanding that a clone is still a mature plant. It's just a little vulnerable until it gets new roots. That being said, I didn't feed them anything while they were growing roots in my cloner. Just soaked the rock wool cubes in clonex, and dipped the stems in clonex gel. After I put them in party cups I gave them straight ph adjusted water for their first drink. After that I went straight to mixing half strength. 2mils per liter of A and 2mils per liter of B. My water starts around 7.4 and after I add everything it goes down down to about 5.8-6.1 if I only add the ph perfect and not the dyna gro pro tekt. Like I said, check and make sure you have the ph perfect and not just the old sensi line. Some shops around here were selling the old stuff at a discount to make way for the ph perfect.
