Hid height

Ok so I’ve done an upgrade to 400watt hps, with a 5” inline and cool tube in a 1mX1m tent the question is how low can I run the light from the tops for max bud production, as currently temperatures in my tent are 20degrees Celsius constantly , I can hold the cool tube and not burn my hand

A 400W HID - 18" above the canopy is a good height.

you can put a 400 hps about 12 inches. It's not super powerful the plants will stretch if it's too far

I use a 400w Hps, no cool tube and I have mine about 12inches from the top of my canopy. My ladies love it.

I was under the belief that the perimeter will get more light with the slightly higher hanging height. Does your perimeter have chubby bud at 12"?

For sure, that makes perfect sense, but also have to factor that as you move your light further away then the intensity will also lessen. I do have a smaller area than you, 75x75 so that may also make a difference as I have less space to cover than yourself, but even when I've been in bigger areas I get my lights as low as possible without burning my ladies. I haven't got anything in full bloom at the moment, but yes my buds at the sides of my tent are no less chubby than my buds in the middle of the tent and if they are its only marginal, pic attached as an example and if you use training techniques, unlike myself, then you can have a nice even canopy and have all your colas as fat as each other because understandably colas that are directly under the bulb will likely get the biggest.
