Just received bottle of Soul Synthetics Grow N which is a nitrogen booster. Nitrogen nitrate with some guano and calcium. Opened the bottle and it smells like ammonia. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I’ve never looked much into it. Nitrogen nitrate it says on bottle is what confuses me. I see ammonium nitrate on some bottle labels of other ferts. This one just nitrogen nitrate

Was looking into it and this bottle says it’s nitrogen nitrate which seems to be different than ammonium nitrate. Idk. Hard to get good info even googling. It’s why I posted here.Curses - ya beat me to it!! I was just about to hit Post Reply ...

You’re dealing with sales-driven double talk. They didn’t want to say ammonium, probably to make a cheap feedstock sound proprietary and special.
Or it’s the bat poo combined with a highish pH. :shrug:

your organic bat guano will be ammonia nitrate at some point of its life before it got eaten by your plant.

It’s weird cause I’ve used bat guano for years and never smelled ammonia. Thinking of just tossing it. Got it through amazon. Inner Lid seal was not sealed. Tape was around lid. It’s always something dealing with online crap. Should have just went to the hydro store

There are more then several forms of N that are or can be used as a fet.
Ammonium Nitrate will loose as much as 30%+ of it's effectiveness with use. It breaks down very fast. In soils.
Ammonium Nitrate is not the best N form for cannabis either.... It does have use's though.
It does make a good N supplement. I would never use it as the primary source though...
use it in veg if you like...
