Higrade app worth it?

Hello, so I know the higrade app sounds like bs, but I downloaded the free app and tried 3 different buds and it told me the truth I already know: the best one 5 stars was from 1 plant my girlfriend harvested and it was from a mexican brick weed seed that she grew with lots of love without knowing anything about growing cannabis. The plant even became a hermmie or got pollinated because the harvest had seeds, but the high was simply the best. The 4 star was a choco candy that it's my 10th harvest and I think the bud looks great but the high was def not impressive: chill, uplifting, but nothing special and not too euphoric. And the 3 stars was a Stich's Love Potion that I had to cut a bit early due to pest infestation, this also hermed at the end due to stress and the buds seemed a bit airy, but the color and smell was fantastic, the high, though, gave us paranoia and we agreed it was the worst one and according to the app it got 3 stars. Pure chance?

What do you think of this app?

Never heard of it before.

So it rates strains?

Why would anyone pay for an app to tell us what is best when we smoke so much weed we already know those answers?

If it recognized strains by picture (which would be impossible) that would be something worth while.

By pictures, I know it sounds silly, but my girlfriend's bud was not the best looking due to how little I had left yet we knew it was the best smoke and it turned out to be the best according to the app, and also the one that got 3 stars didn't look bad at all by looking at it and it got 3 stars and it was indeed right. And the choco candy also got it right too.

Impossible.

A picture absolutely cannot tell you what compounds are in any bud. Nor can it tell you the amount of them.

There are labs that people send buds to and pay big buck to get the compound report on. No picture is pulling that off.


Without any of that info there is absolutely no way to gain that knowledge.

It's a bunch of malarkey they are selling.

Stop drinking the kool-aid my friend.

You know what other app is "fun"

Ghost radar. It tells you where the spirits in your home are and what they are saying to you....

I venture to guess that shit is more accurate that the bullshit app you are peddling.

I like candy crush.... a far better use of time... in that.... its a completely mindeless waste of time!

So from their "Science" page, they basically explain that they have created their own data set from microscopic photography and lab testing.

"Over the course of 3 years, we have collected many samples of cannabis flowers, collected images from each one, and sent each to an HPLC test in regulatorily approved labs in the US."

They're attempting to correlate the microscopic physical structure of the plant matter in their photos with their lab results, then using machine learning to compare your photo with their photo database. Plus they want to sell you a stick on microscope for your phone.

So like Shazam/SoundHound but for Cannabis but with meaningless results?

A free download with in app purchases. There is no way they can tell THC content by 3 pictures taken by a cell phone.

I looked at the website and they make all these claims and such but that's about it.

Plus why would you want to install an app on your phone that has permissions to everything? Many are needed for the app to function but why do they need access to my contacts, Identity, and some of the others? No thanks.

Find accounts on device 2xs doesn't raise an eyebrow for you?

Specifically under identity?

Especially for an app that lies about what its capable of?

Go look at the permissions for any app before you install it. They all have them listed. Most don't have access to your contacts or many of the unneeded permissions this app has. It's not a messaging app or anything like that. And I looked at the permissions for another app that claims to do the same thing but they don't want access to your contacts. Neither did another dozen or so marijuana related apps on the google play store.

And it's not the phone asking for those permission it's the app asking so you're giving some company access to the contacts list on your phone. An app that supposedly determines THC content by using a couple pictures needs access to a users contacts list? The contacts list has nothing to do with the installation or functionality of the app or it's purpose.

That data can be downloaded and you gave permission when you installed the app. Believe it or not many apps are mining that data which ends up in databases that are sold just like email lists. One of the reason people get spam calls and text messages on their phones. Someone installed an app that mined their contacts list and you were in it.

Then there's the fact that anyone downloading the app is probably growing weed. Installing an app that can potentially harvest your contacts is probably not the best thing to do especially if you live in a non-legal state.

Their privacy policy even states that information provided by you may be stored on your device as in your contacts list. Those permissions are set by the developer so they intentionally wanted access to your contacts when they made the app.

We will use any personal information that we may collect or obtain in connection with the App in accordance with our privacy policy which is available on our website, https://www.gethigrade.com, as well as in the "settings" section of the App ("Privacy Policy"), and you agree that we may do so. Good point on the contacts specifically if you are a black market dealer.

Not only do they have your info and location, but the now have access to your client list....

I was just concerned about the accounts access but you have a valid point.
