Yeah, fuck Detroit, should have let that entire city go bankrupt and forfeit America's place as top auto exporter.

So one company got seminationalized, it isn't a whole industry, and it worked, that all you got? All that fear mongering over a bailout that you have to embellish while ignoring blatantly obvious intentions by the other side to take freedoms away and yet you say you don't support the GOP...only lying to yourself kid.

What a complete load of horseshit. Detroit would have been much better off if GM had gone through bankruptcy and restructuring. There were REASONS they were failing, reasons and problems that could have been rectified in bankruptcy. GM would still be here, except the unions would have had to come down to earth from their ridiculously bloated wages and unsustainable pensions. All this did was the same thing the Stimulus did, pushed the impending disaster down the road a smidge and increase the magnitude of the shit storm when it hits. And we all payed for the privilege to watch the horror unfold.

oh ok, thanks, so you are saying that it doesn't matter that they went from not selling cars, to selling more cars than anyone, because... Wait lol... Because they would have started selling cars again if policies would have gone farther in the direction that caused them to not sell cars...

Cool story bro.

It worked? How? By the way where are bailouts of private business authorized in the Untied States constitution? A bankrupt country can't help a bankrupt business or city for very long can it?

I am not ignoring any attempt to take away freedom....and who you calling kid? I probably got jello in my refrigerator older than you.

Iceland focused on government support of the social net not austerity. That seems counter to your free market arguments.

Perhaps you should explain that to Iceland's Prime Minister!

Europe's struggling economies should look to tiny Iceland as a model for managing their crises and returning quickly to growth, especially in winning public support for moderate austerity policies, Prime Minister Johanna Sigurdardottir said.

You realize Iceland is a Keynesian success story over Austrians?
Also the Icelandic crown - which dived by two thirds during the crisis, forcing the government to impose the capital controls to stabilize the currency - remains 20 percent lower against the euro than its pre-crash level.
This has given a useful boost to the country's international competitiveness, something no euro zone country can get short of taking the nuclear option of leaving the currency union.

Capital controls were one measure the IMF would once have frowned upon. Iceland also took unorthodox steps in other areas, forgiving around 200 billion crowns' ($1.54 billion) worth of household debt and providing big tax benefits to the lowest income households.
It severely cut back state spending in some areas, but preserved the social safety net.

Hong Kong. Look it up.
An example of a city state doesn't apply to the biggest economy on earth as proof. Besides, it isn't totally free, there is minimum wage, it's also a major tax haven, seeing as how it is surrounded by communism. That gives it no shortage of outside investment, furthermore, most of that prosperity is attributable to a complete lack of military spending.
