HLG setup

Alright guys you got me all excited reading about quantum boards and what not and I think I may have gone a little too far with this.

I went ahead and ordered a 4 pack of the HLG 132 3000k quantum board and a PowerNex-HLG-320H-C2100A because people were saying good things about them

I HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO WIRE THESE THINGS
I have 2 2x4 tents and I was hoping that 2 of the lights would be good per tent (I'm also hoping I can eventually pick up on a 4 pack of 4000k lights)

Anyone have a good guide to building these? I hope I didn't get in over my head.

Ok so the 4 pack of lights I bought says "no heatsink required"... Is it still recommended that I get some?

Are you sure you read that correctly? It does say no addition thermal product required, but hard to imagine these without the heatsink. How would you hang em? I usually buy the kits, so I could be wrong. I doubt it though. In any event, I would want the heatsink.

It says no thermal interface or heatsink required

can be powered max 75 watts.
if you overdrive these it will burn the board out fast especially with no heatsync

adding a simple peice of aluminum will help with the longevity of the boards as will running them at a lower wattage, and they also become more efficient

did you order them already?

Yes I did order them, people were saying they sell out quick. Alright makes sense... I was having difficulties finding heatsinks for them

I'm going to get a heatsink, I just didn't realize it was something I might need til watching the video.

I've read on other parts of this forum where people were talking about building their own frames... Thats something within my capabilities it's the wiring and stuff of that sort im concerned about... Looks like theres other parts I need to order that are in the kits and I didn't realize I would need them.
Thank you for replying and if there is any more wisdom you might have from using these yourself I would appreciate it

You don't need a heatsink if you don't over power the boards.Get more like you mentioned and build your own frame tailored to the size and shape of your space to use.

As Vertnugs stated, they will not require a heatsink if not over powered above 75w I have the QB 120'sx 8. No heatsink, just an aluminum L channel frame to hold them.

Plan on extra calcium. Get it built up during veg. Keep your temps in the low 80s to allow for better transpiration. High nute demands with these. Need the xtra cal for uptake.

Awesome, I have been using the fox farm line-up for years but after reading what people have to say about nectar for the gods on here I think I may have to switch to that.

I used foxfarm for many years. Its great. The nectar is actually a calcium based line so you may not need to add much more cal. Its hard to overdose in cal, but it can interfere with the use of other nutes. I found just a couple light extra doses of cal in veg and early flower does the trick.

Nectar for the Gods will send you the whole line for just shipping cost to try. Not samples, either. Real bottles. I got it a few years ago. $32 to ship across the country. Forget where to go now, but shouldn't be hard to find.

thanks man I'm gonna try that out!
later once i get my stuff rolling with some mothers, I will try a side-by- side under my quantum boards

also you've reminded me I haven't added cal yet.. soil may be running low at this point. Good points bro!
