Hmmm!Trinity Proto pics anybody?
I saw Stephen like the post asking that so that must be a green light if i ever saw one, no?
When i get home.
Tricky thing about a proto is the finished product may not even be close to the same thing. Look at the Elite Proto. Tje 96's are the Elites finished product. Couldn't be any different.
Who knows, keeps ya guessing.
My thing is this & i hope no one takes offense to my speaking openly kind've. Yes, i bite my tongue.Hmmm!
I would not consider it a permission. He is probably only pleased with the interest and the fact that you still agree to not post any pictures before release date. Better ask him directly if its okay or not.
I'm pretty curious too and can't wait to see them in action.
When you reach 700-800μMol/s with the HGL lights centered 18" above each plant you have already reached their limit cuz center readings are already pretty low and uniformity is maybe like 60% across the 4x 4' area.
With the trinity you can probably have +1000μMol/s in the centwer and still 500-600 along the sides with hanging heights of 24" or so.
You only need to look on the used diodes. A lens, even a good one, can not make up for the difference in quality and efficiency. The best diodes you can find in such 1w/3w housings reach maybe 30-35% efficiency so its not a fair test. And 1800$, really?!? That's way overpriced for a rebranded chinese(80$) OEM fixture.
Good to see you making a fair test so anyones knows what they can do and what not.
My bet ..?
For sure HLG's Trinity!! Easy peasy..
Well, if you have any questions feel free to ask.The ONLY "problem" I've ever had with HLG is that, whenever I have been ready to order one of their panels, I find out there is a newer panel, with even more features I want, a few months away from release....so I wait for that one to come out and then when it does, the same thing happens over and over again! I know that when I finally commit to buying one in the future, it's going to bug me when the next model comes out a few months after that. Same thing with several other companies, too.
I'm curious as to how much of the actual power draw from the wall goes to powering the fans on that array of HGL fixtures.....? Also, it would be nice to know how much heat is generated by each setup. I realize your space isn't aligned for that in this test, but it IS a concern for tent growers or growers who have to deal with temperature issues. I would imagine that 16 fans running is generating some noise, as well. None of this has anything to do with this "white vs purple" spectrum comparison, but, as a potential customer, I'm making my own comparisons while observing this test, as well.
Now that they enhanced id say they're worth it now. Cant get anymore efficient in a QB then the Trinity. Still Need to dial in the spd imo.The ONLY "problem" I've ever had with HLG is that, whenever I have been ready to order one of their panels, I find out there is a newer panel, with even more features I want, a few months away from release....so I wait for that one to come out and then when it does, the same thing happens over and over again! There are too many trolls and much drama to browse thruNow that they enhanced id say they're worth it now. Cant get anymore efficient in a QB then the Trinity. Still Need to dial in the spd imo.
I mean shiiiit, u see the ppfd at 300w over a large area.
I have one light that can hang & u can bet ur bottom dollar we will be comparing them in par & a side by side after this one, but only if the Trinity wins.
Honestly i Don't think it's going to be as easy as many of you think. As long as her plant gets between 5-800 par of magic sauce I say that's gonna be Pretty tough to beat. Providing NASA's alien Technology blows away HLG'S out of this universe a fishing Efficiency.
HGL'S lights are loud to put it nicely. Prob more so the heatsink design causing the noise tho then the fans themselves.
The heat Sinks look generic although they probably work better than Conventional thick sinks. She designed it that way Intentionally. They base & fins are of equal thickness. Approx 5/16". Fins are tall allowing more air to flow between them in turn causing the sound of wind passing threw channels. Also I believe it's on the giveaway thread or one of her threads she says how much power the fans use.
That's 15 watts per light fixture....correct? So, 60 watts going to cooling for 4 HGL fixtures compared to 0 watts going to cooling for the HLG Trinity? There are too many trolls and much drama to browse thru
I think she said 15w or so.
Yeah i think it was something like that. She actually was saying that keeping leds cooler helps them run more efficiently (which is true) so in the end that 15w was not being wasted. That's 15 watts per light fixture....correct? @hybridway2 Yes, I agree....I don't think this contest is going to produce vastly different plant-growth results between the two fixtures....because the plants only care about photons they can use. And it doesn't matter what kind of light produces those photons. It can be anything from the highest technology lights to a bunch of incandescent bulbs in an aluminum foil lined closet -as long as there are enough photons and rest of the growing conditions are accounted for, of course.
I think the results are going to be close! I wouldn't base my pick on the results of the plant growth. I'd make my choice between these two lights based on almost every other factor -like the durability, electrical safety, ease-of use, simplicity, weight and lack of moving parts.
That's a valid point, but it still means there are moving parts that are going to wear out eventually -which seems like more of a liability than is necessary. Which brings me to yet another question...User-serviceability/ If a fan were to break down and needed to be replaced, then could I just order the fan and pop it in, myself, without voiding the warranty? Same question regarding the Trinity - If a strip goes out, then can I unscrew the bad strip and replace it with a new one, myself?Yeah i think it was something like that. That is one thing I gotta give her props on and something you definitely don't see many other "box" led fixture sellers doing -That's a valid point, but it still means there are moving parts that are going to wear out eventually -which seems like more of a liability than is necessary.
