You can get used 400W ballasts for dirt cheap. They get used for lighting in industry a lot, and whenever a company gets new lights the old ones often end up being sold for like $20-30. Look on craigslist. You'll have to rewire it to be a remote ballast if you want.

i wasn't asking for me. i was just putting that deal out there for those who do use 400w hps systems...its such a good deal i had to share it...for my 600's the cheapest bulb i've ever got was $25. usually they cost an arm & a leg...newhere from 50-110 usd.

its a warehouse bulb. the mh version is what you see in a grocery store. It has low spectrum peaks and almost no par. personally I wouldn't use it

if you read what i said. i said the mh version i didnt say that was an mh. its a weak warehouse bulb. i read the specs as I was looking for a spectrum graph. Never buy a bulb without knowing its spectrum.

THe Kelvin scale you use, which is bullshit is called the Kelvin scale for a reason. It is based on a black body radiator like an iron pot being HEATED TO A CERTAIN TEMPERATURE TO EMIT LIGHT.heres some photos and graphs ANY BLACK BODY RADIATOR ie lightbulbs CANNOT PRODUCE THE FULL COLOR SPECTRUM!
