Holiday Plea - Cancer patient needs help growing!

Hi everyone! I just signed up for this site on behalf of myself and my mom. I’m a regular Joe with some spine problems from a car accident I was in, my mom is a 62 year-old terminally ill cancer patient. I’m posting partly to introduce us to the community here, and party because I just lost my job and I’m trying to see if we can get some advice on setting up a grow space and possibly some donations/discounts toward materials because we can’t afford to buy medicine anymore.
What is the problem?
- Long-term chemotherapy for Multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer like Leukemia.
- Also a permanent dialysis patient with spinal fractures and herniated discs.
- Doc says she needs to eat more and gain more weight to fight chemo.
- MMJ is the only appetite enhancer and anti-nausea medicine that works for her.
- I just got laid off and can’t afford to pay for medicine anymore. Or food. : (

What is our goal?
- Build a good grow-room for as little $$$ as possible
- Learn to make edibles
- Become self-sufficient farmers and bakers

What do we have?
- Time
- Labor
- Prior experience growing MMJ in soil
- Experience in baking/cooking
- Some experience in construction
- A very small budget

What do we need most?
- Tips/advice/books on: Growing – Building a grow room - Baking
Only medically/scientifically valid info from leading experts please!

- Donations: Lights – Seeds/Clones – Pumps – Nutrients etc.
Anything you have that can help build a grow-space would help!
Heck, we’ll take an old solar panel if you have one : )
We’d also appreciate tips on growing supply stores that might give discounts.

*Special request for Info/Equipment relating to Hydroponics and Aeroponics

What can we give back?
- Physical Labor
- Skilled Labor (I’m a writer, university degree, kick-ass at Jeopardy)
- Possibly medicine/cash when we get up and growing.

Special request for unique/rare strains of seeds and clones!
We are growing exclusively for ourselves - NOT selling or distributing in any way
Also, my mother’s condition puts her in amazing and indescribable pain.
We’re hoping that the owners of unique/rare/amazing strains will ‘share’ their DNA

- We promise never to share trade secrets of any kind!
- We can PROVE our medical and financial situation if you need
We understand there are a lot of scammers this time of year, you can talk to my Mom’s oncologist directly and I’ll give you the name/number and website of the company I was laid off from. Or, any other ‘proof’ you might need.

What? You mean, you’re thinking about helping us but you’re still not fully convinced that we have a good enough hard-luck story? Aw, jeez, you are hard. OK, you asked for it:

2003 My grandmother dies after a 6-month coma resulting from ‘routine surgery’

2004 My Mom had a heart-attack
2005 My Dad committed suicide
2006 My Mom diagnosed with cancer, suffered permanent spinal and kidney damage
2007 Lost family home of 25 years because of adjustable mortgage and Mom’s illness.
2008 Graduated college, moved to CA for work…1 month before ‘great recession of 08’
2009 Evicted when landlord didn’t tell us they lost the house to the bank.
2010 Homeless because of events in 2009.
2011 Mom’s Cancer comes back.
In April some lady rear-ended us on the highway and totaled my car and the insurance didn’t cover all the bills/damages.
I was laid-off the day before thanksgiving.

A couple weeks ago 2 lunatics attacked me and sent me to the ICU with 8 stitches in my face, a broken nose, dozens of cuts and bruises all over my body and a bleed in my brain.

So….yeah, we’ve been having a pretty steady stream of bad-luck :P

We’re trying to stay positive though.
Any help would be appreciated.
Happy Holidays to those of you engaging in religious celebrations, and for those of you that aren’t, try to enjoy all the free pretty lights! : )

PS- We’re located in Ventura County but can travel to most parts of LA county.

Hey Harmony Farmer,

Sorry to hear all of the troubles you have had in life.... I was thinking about your situation and had to think.... maybe it would be cheaper and less of a hassle to just get your script and PU medication and Edibles from a local club... There are no clubs in Ventura, but there are delivery services.... I guess it all depends on the amount of medication you need. There are clubs in summerland, Santa Barbara and Goleta.... But then there are a ton on Ventura Blvd down the 101 fwy.... As far as good genetics there is a place called progressive options in Pacoima that has a awsome line of Genetics.. You can get clones for 10 to 15, teens for 20 to 30 and moms for 35 to 45.... Putthem in a pot find a cheap light on craigslist and get her done... PM me if you have any questions....

How much are you looking to grow?

For nutrients look up the kiss method. Uses a teaspoon of maxibloom per gallon of water. $12 for 2 pounds and will get you started cheap.

If you have soil and sin e you know soil, I'd stick with that. Second would be coco as it's not that expensive.

Are you good with carpentry and or tools? Build or modify yourself a small cab. I've seen a cab similar in size to mine pull an o every week or two in perpetual grow using cfl lights.

i'm sorry about your misfortunes; the holidays and their enforced jubilance can be especially trying during times of hard knocks.

as far as the medibles, this thread covers it all, has pretty well all the info you need to make anything: link--> https://www.rollitup.org/cooking-cannabis/412878-badkats-cannapharm-canna-caps-uv.html

i hear some of the clubs down there have sugar leaf available for considerably less than buds (i don't live in cali and could be mistaken about this). something to think about for medibles on a budget.

i just sent a message to someone who may be able to help you; hopefully they can and you hear from them soon.

I would start growing with DWC, it's the simplest system and gives great yields. If you can buy the exact same nutes as me, and the same box of pH up, and use reverse osmosis or distilled water, I can give you quantities that could be measured with just a syringe, or set of measuring spoons, and a scale, to save you the cost of an expensive pH/tds meter.

http://www.amazon.com/Botanicare-CNS.../dp/B004JKFK48
http://www.amazon.com/Botanicare-CNS.../dp/B003MG1YEU
http://www.amazon.com/Botanicare-NSC.../dp/B004JKBMRW
http://www.amazon.com/General-Hydrop.../dp/B001JINXDI

That's all you need to get. You don't need bottles that big but I couldn't find smaller ones on google shopping. Your local hydro store probably has more reasonable sizes - just get a quart of each if you're just going to grow one plant and money's really tight. Otherwise get the biggest size you can afford, it gets way cheaper with more.

The concept is really simple. Hydroponic stores have buckets pre-made for DWC. Don't get any of the funky kits. Get a black 5 gallon plastic bucket with a net pot lid, one of these guys (get a 6" one if you're going to skimp on the meters):

http://www.nehydro.com/net-pot-8-bucket-basket/

You will need rockwool cubes to grow the plants in... it's a material spun from molten rock I think, either way think of it as effectively being "rock foam." It retains moisture but also holds a lot of air, so the roots don't drown.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...JCSNXGJ7RZ25XY (rockwool)

Then you want hydroton to fill the net pot with:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...E1HK9YZ6XXMJW7

If you want to cut out the pH meter get a reverse osmosis filter like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Whirlpool-WHER.../dp/B004S7TAK2

It's generally good to have one with hydroponics anyway. It removes any dissolved salts in the water, stuff like calcium carbonate, sodium chloride, etc. Regular filters only remove organic molecules and some heavy metal salts like lead.

You will need an air pump:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...AEJCAB6JKBK9C3

And some air stones:

http://www.amazon.com/Eco-Plus-Large.../dp/B002JLA83C

Now you have all the necessary materials to set up the hydroponics. The concept is amazingly simple. All you do is soak the rockwool cube, shake the water back out a little later (do not squeeze!) like flicking a paint brush... until it's still wet, but not soggy. You plant your seed or cutting in that, put it in a beer cup and put that in a 1 gallon ziplock to let it root. Check daily until the roots poke out the bottom of the cube.

Once they're rooted you soak the hydroton in some water for a bit, wash off the dirt, etc. Drill a hole in the lid for the air tube for the air stone. They're usually 1/8" wide. Now you fill the bucket with RO (reverse osmosis) water until it reaches the bottom of the net pot. You drop in the air stone, add the fertilizer, pH up, etc. and thread the air line through the hole in the lid and hook it up to the air stone. Drop the lid in place, put the rockwool cube + plant in the center, and fill up around it with hydroton as high as it can go without choking the plant and walah... you're good to go. Just hook the line up to the pump, hang a light, and it'll start growing. The bucket of nute solution has to be replaced about once every 2-3 weeks in the beginning, and once every week or more in flower. If there's any strange growth appearing, it's a good idea to change the bucket - the pH might be off, etc.

It really is very simple. The plant hangs over a pool of water with dissolved nutrients, and the roots grow into this water to absorb them. The air stone makes tons of tiny bubbles so the roots don't suffocate. They can survive a few hours if the pump goes out, but I wouldn't count on it.

Also:

HASH OIL CURES CANCER!!!

Yes I am 100% serious, you need about 60g of oil, with the objective being to get her tolerance up as fast as possible and so she can eat through that oil as quickly as possible. Look up phoenix tears, simpson oil, etc. for more information. Very important you start this tomorrow. "Terminal" cancers have been turned into cancers in remission. But the odds are better the sooner you start!!!
