Something online got our bank info and is stealing our money...they took 3,000 dollars earlier and the bank reversed all the charges, and now 5 of the charges came back through...to the tune of $1080.00....OOOOh and the best part----------------- when we try to call the 24 hour number thing it says they are currently experiencing system trouble and can not accept your call goodbye---You bet your sweet ass there is a system problem...and ya know it is either HTG supplies online payment thing, or amazon, or V2 Cigs...those are the only places we paid for anything online recently...but somehow our info is out there...

We had 13 errant charges..
From all over the world

Malaysia, the us, france, mexico, luxembourg, chile and of course the Netherlands...which are the only ones that went back through again...oh and the one from chile.

Change ALL sensitive online account passwords. Sometime people can steal your information by going though your computer and not the places you make purchases with. I am a computer tech and I have seen countless viruses steal peoples banking information when they make online purchases and even log into their bank accounts. Keyloggers are the worst!

I HOPE you has at least some sort of virus protection... of course a virus may still not be the case.

i just recently had my credit card number stolen through the Xbox 360... someone hacked my accunt and took the credit card number that I had linked with my account.... I guess your information really is everywhere

Ugh! This is just awful..the bank makes it sound like it will be simple to fix...it will just take 7-10 business days...and it was just 1 of 2 debit cards for the same account that got jacked...so....I don't know what that means...I guess that makes it more likely it is a website...yes? Not super tech savvy...my husband is a computer genius (nerd) though so we don't usually have viruses...but there isn't a whole lot you can do about somebody doing this...and now that more and more places won't take prepaid cards online I feel like I am being forced to pay super inflated prices to keep my local economy going...the garden store near my house wants $80 for an oscillating fan...and the fan blades don't even make music when they spin...

Which of course I can also drive to lowes, I am meaning that more specialized things are heinously expensive...well some things...some things are the same price...equipment of any sort is marked up by at least $30 on everything...at least $30...and man I just can't afford that...I need the internet. And all the shopping it has to offer.

i guess if it only got 1 of the 2 cards i could be just a site....

You should try ebay, you can pay through paypal which is super secure and ebay offers buyer protection so if you get screwed you get your money back (after an investigation of course) I have bought TONS of grow stuff for good prices on eBay

Prevention is the best solution to a problem.

Network security is a job you need to take seriously,

I have a stream line 5 station firewall that means 5 dummy computers acting as firewalls.

Understanding password security is also a good thing.

Passwords should be random , yet able to me motor memory.

Each place you go should have a diff password.

Sucks if you have poor memory, but if you dont your just making things easy for people.

Like when people store there tax info on their desktops *slap in the face*.

Heres all my state and federal tax information... my life... on the front of this access panel to the world.

Just do things the smart way, nothing haphazard all deliberate.

Cover all bases so to say.

I change my passwords often and use acronyms to remember them. I also include numbers, capitals and lowercases, and special characters if the site will let me. For example, I might have something like J&JruTH!45 And i'd remember it as Jack & Jill ran up the hill. I was taught those are the strongest passwords because they don't mean anything to you, personally. They're not, say, a pet's name, or a family member's birthday or anything like that. Good luck with your situation. That really sucks...

My best method of preventing fraud/theft is to stay broke and keep my credit card maxxed out. Keeps those thieves at bay

Sorry to hear. I had this happen with Paypal years ago. They stole all $3000 I had saved. My bank reversed it and put the money back in that day, but kept the NSF charges until their 60 day investigation concluded. Needless to say I've had a permanent STOP on all Paypal transactions since. Hope everything works out.

That's why people get ewallets. Only 1 company having your info is better than giving it out too much. That sucks. Oh well, just one of the very few inconveniences to living in a 1st world country rather than living in South America where online shopping has yet to take hold.

I use 'password' for my passwords. Nobody would ever think of that. It's like mind control over Debo.

EDIT: fuck all of you who just tried to log into my account.

Which seems to be the secret...lol. As soon as they overdraw our bank account as far as they can they have to stop and then our bank reverses the charges. It isn't really going to affect us other than a hassle. There is no question that it was fraud...all I know is that Woodforest bank kicks ass! See we had our car in the shop and need to get it out...which is one thing the money was to be used for...so they gave us the 2000 to get it out...even though technically it is tied up in disputes...lol

The issue is that one of these companies was an ewallet company...that is what that pay.nl is as har as I can tell...you put money there to use all over the net...which I assume is why that is where a good bit of our money was funneled...It is all being taken care of...phew

Nah...it's alright...once they get everything settled we are going to close this account and start fresh...lol. Since the same places are still trying to hit our account for different amounts...
