wow carpentry is hard!! Here are some pics of my grow cabinet I constructed. It is hard to get wood to fit right if not cut perfectly lol. Anyways i was wondering if any of yall know easy ways to seal gaps around my doors. I would like to know up fron before I waste time trying in another way. I have some gaps that light will go through around my door of the cabinet nd hingers and such. Any ideas would help. Obviously i am going to coat the entire inside with mylar.

my room is made out of panda film...but you could basically use another sturdy lightproof material.

you can use velcro strips to overlap panda film over the cracks

for example, for where the two doors meet you could have 3 inch wide strip of panda film going down from top to bottom being held on by velcro haha

try an interlocking seal around your doors . It will stop all your light leaks. Its not cheap but it works real well.

maybe some strips of tarp attached to the door and wall over the hinges on the inside or build a frame the size of the opening of the door and mount to the doors idk really jus some suggestions

Great stuff foam insulation for an cracks that don't move.

And they are right goam weather seal/strip/tape at the door.

Easiest way to light proof a box like that is to use weatherstripping. You can get it at any hardware store. Its used for doors put in the jam to seal it. I got a crapload from a home depot that was moving to another location so it was 80% off :) Once you throw the weatherstripping around the door jams where the doors meet it should stop the light from the hinge areas as well.

I would probably just coat the inside with black/white poly thats commonly used for grow chambers- if you can attach it right you can not only seal air leaks but light leaks as well... Ya know?

I've used the expanding foam insulation before. Did all my seams with it... even around doors. I had to close my door with me on the inside and sprayed around the seams. When it hardened I opened the door and it was a tight fit!

Side note... try doing one door at a time so you don't lock yourself in waiting for both.

And if he wants to set it for a 24/7, 18-6 etc? If he has some friends over and doesn't want them snooping into his cabinet?

Anyways, weather stripping is a great idea. I'd suggest pretty much the same. I'd guess that's pretty much your best bet.

You could also just add strips of rubber on the edges, that will help with keep everything in and anything out.
