Use 4x4 PVC fence posts.

400 GPH pump

18 Gal rubbermaid container

EZ-clone sprayers

Read my journal for more info on how to pull an elbow out of a 7x8 closet every three weeks.

Do a search or just read through the first two pages of the hydro section, there are tons of DIY threads on how to build your own.

Stinkbud,

Do you have an inside shot of your 4x4 tube?

Do you just have a 360 degree sprayer at each opening?

How long could one of the 4x4 tubes run? Is there a gph per ft ratio or anything?

I also read where someone cleaned their nozzles by using compressed air, is that good or should you replace them so often?

I'm deciding if I want to use ebb and flow, or something else. I want to be able to move plants from a veg room to a flowering room. The setup you use, would it still be good if you left your plants in veg a little longer for larger plants?

Thanks for the advice.

The design above is good, but I like mine better. I just cut 4' square holes in the side of a bigger 55gal container. It eventually evolves into a DWC / Hydro setup. I also run 3 posts wide rather then 2 with a total of 9 slots. I drop a ton of airstones into the res and it works good.

To answer your questions...

1.) I run PVC pipe inside of the 4x4 posts. I put a 2 sprayers next to either side of each netpot (i use 3" netpots). More sprayers the better I guess...

2.) You can run a bunch of sprayers on a single pump. I have a small pump (400gph) attached to 15 sprayers. Works fine...

3.) Just put a mesh filter bag around your pump and you won't really need to clean the strayers. Use quality 3-part hydro nutes (i use general hydroponics 3 part plus a few spices)

No shots but it is simple. I have a sprayer between each opening for a total of 12 sprayers.

You could make it as long as the largest fence post. I actually cut my last one down because it was too long for my room. I run a 396GPH per 6 sprayers now. It works for 12 but 600GPH would be a better choice.

I keep a clean set of sprayers and replace the old one each harvest. I always have a set of sprayers soaking in soapy water ready for use.

You won't get much more harvest vegging longer. The light can only reach so far down through the canopy. 12-18" is the perfect height to go into flower.

CO2 is the call is you want a bigger harvest. I increased my harvest 3-4oz. using CO2.

Check my journal to see how I made my veg unit. It allows me to keep the roots separate so I can move the plants into flower later. You can't move plants in an NFT setup because the roots all grow together.

Good luck.

I have some of those 360 degree sprayers I think you are talking about but my pump right now is only big enough to get one spraying. I got them in the drip irragation section, I'm afraid they will get plugged too easy but who knows till I try.

I was going to mount them inside 2" pvc between each plant. I don't know if that makes it Aero/NFT setup or if it's an Aeroponics setup or just an orginal.

I'm using 2 inch pvc because I'm trying to grow lettuce, If I can't get lettuce to grow I'm not going to try the more expensive plants.

I'll keep you posted as I go, I'm working on it right now, trying to decide if I want to use a 5 gallon bucket as a reservoir or try something smaller.

Ok, here is my setup I'm going to use right now.

1 - 5 gallon bucket, along with 2 - 4 foot sections of pvc pipe and a pump.

Basically I cut the PVC into two 4 foot sections, then I drilled holes every 6 inches to put the rockwool cubes in, sealed the far end up with test caps. For the water flowing on the inside, I connected 2 - 1/4" pieces of hose to the pump. In the 1/4" hose I took my smallest drill bit and drilled holes in the hose evey couple inches and placed it inside the pvc. The water comes out the pump goes up the tubing and gets sprayed out the hose and runs back to the 5 gallong bucket.

Don't know if I'll run it constantly now or wait till the roots are formed and just keep the rockwool wet.

Remember I'm using 2 inch PVC because I'm growing lettuce right now.
