Ethanol is alcohol. The ethanol in gasoline is an additive produced from corn, subsidized by the government. Not to get political, but the same farmers bitching about the trade war with China (soy farmers, primarily) also benefit from such billion dollar subsidizes. So when you hear corn and soy farmers bitching about trade, remember to keep in mind that they've sucked in billions of taxpayer funds in exchange for their political support!

Everclear is the closest over the counter thing you can get to pure, unadulterated ethanol as far as I know. Many states don't sell 190 proof Everclear, most of New England you're shit out of luck.

$50 for 25 cartridges to start out with, here things are a bit tricky, but when purchasing 100+ you can find carts for $.75-1.25. I'm looking for a good wholesale brand, if anyone knows of any, please chime in.

The guys I was talking to on IG were making their own concentrates. So I guess most of that $7K would be for that equipment.

Oh okay, Ill see what the percentage is of the everclear around here.
If I run everclear to extract do I need to evaporate it outdoors? I'm in a pretty dense residential area.

To be positively safe... yes. Relatively safe indoors using a heat mat and a small fan...

Yeah that would make sense. Closed loop system, vacuum oven, and a distillate setup would run about that from the research I've done. I'm not there yet myself, and may not be in the market long enough to bother going down that route, personally.

I'd also add that there's no smell to it either (Ethanol). But naked flames would be bad and a large space for the fumes to dissipate would be recommended.

Do you know how I could go about winterizing my shatter from my rosin press? Will it break all the way back down if I mix it with alcohol so I can strain it then be able to evaporate it and scrape it back up?

I don't know why else my carts are coming out green besides maybe there's fats and waxes in there. The shatter itself looks perfectly fine, squished through 120 micron bag and comes out clear and amber for the most part. Start mixing and it turns tanish green and is nowhere near see through.

Where are you getting your tanks from and what are they costing you? Ive only found one place selling them for 5 dollars a piece.

The cartridges? Wholesale rates are $1-2, I got my first 25 Amigo Liberty carts on eBay for $60. Don't buy them individually, it's a complete racket.

Yeah my state only sells the 151 proof everclear. Is that an option, if not do I have any other over the counter options for the Ethonol technique?

Also @somedude584 I'm checking out the terps on Amazon and just to clarify, these are just flavorings right? Because the true terpenes brand is advertising the effect that it'll give you as if it's gonna get you medicated

you can distill 151 (75%) to 190-195 proof; probably not technically legal to do in your area, but its how to get the cleanest ethanol;

its super easy to do.

a 1.5L bottle of everclear 151 is around 75% pure ethanol, 25% H2O; ethanol boils at 80 Celsius, while water boils at 100 Celsius. You can boil the everclear in a simple pot still and just watch the thermometer. When the solution (i.e., everclear can be thought of as a solution of ethanol and water) reaches 80 degrees, the ethanol will begin to boil off. Collect the ethanol vapor in your condenser tube and collect the condensed, purified ethanol. you'll know you're done when the temperature begins to rise beyond 80 and you've collected 1125mL of liquid.

You can pick up a pot still on ebay for 50 bucks, and a hot plate / single burner from walmart for 10 bucks.

I ended up ordering 200 proof ethanol to use. Finishing up the winterization process as we speak

Right on!

I think winterizing should take care of your green problem. A 73 micron strain, no squeezing after straining, and keeping everything as cold as possible all the way through will help too.

Turned out great, amber color and honey like consistency.
I added wayyyy to much terpenes to the mixture for my carts though and am now winterizing another 4 grams to mix in with a little peg400 to hopefully get it smokeable. I did a 1:1:1 ratio, wax:terpseg400. It's extremely harsh right now and tastes minty, my guess is i added way too much terps..

Just thought I would add my 2 pence into this convo.

Here’s what I have done to make stable THC cartridges.

Firstly.

FAST TECH have CCELL 0.5ml ceramic cartridges for approx $18 for 10 with a 1.4-1.6ohm coil. Perfect for your ego style batteries etc.

I blasted 2 cans of butane through 30g of primo bud. (Done outside)

Allowed to boil off then scrapped up the resulting BHO. (Still done outside)

I used a hot plate (on its lowest setting) and some parchment paper with the BHO on the parchment. (Done inside)

I allowed the BHO to heat up gradually for about 1-1.5hours creating a shatter consistency once complete.

I allowed this to cool in the fridge to give it that snap!

Then I mixed 1g BHO into 2ml PEG400 in a small dish and allowed the dish to heat up a little in a bowl of boiling water.

Stirring almost constantly with my dabber tool until fully mixed.

Then I filled the carts with 0.5ml of the resulting mix.

I use these carts as single use carts and they perform brilliantly with this ratio.

The resulting mix is pretty free flowing but you could make this at a higher concentration of BHO to PEG400.

The mixture I would say after 5-7 hits is similar to smoking a full joint or hitting a bong.


Some disclaimers.

Making BHO can be very hazardous so use extreme caution.


I am not vacuum purging my BHO nor am I winterising to create absolute shatter.

I am simply utilising heat to purge.

I understand there still may be some butane residue left over within my final product.

I’m ok with the small ppm left over if at all.

This works well for me and if you feel comfortable doing this you can have a full ccell cartridge ready to vape in approx 2.5hours from filling your tube to blast it.

Definitely get an electric hot plate stirrer. Also, I highly recommend the product "Wax Liquidizer." Their blend is much smoother on the throat and produces more vapor than pure PEG400.

The CCELL knockoffs I got are meh but for the price I'm okay with it. I had a fuck up which cost me quite a few, I had filled all my cartridges before capping them and they all leaked out of the bottom... so don't do what I did, cost me quite a bit. Failure rate for them when properly capped is probably 1 out of 20, so not terrible.
