pics & stories from 4/20
so part 1 of my 4/20 celebration was to be at "hippie hill" at 4:20 and take it all in. after some miraculous parking karma, i actually made it there with 10 minutes to spare (this is after taking off early from work for unspecified reasons lol).
here's what the scene was like... you can kinda see the clouds of pot smoke forming...
and a panoramic shot:
then for part 2, i made my way over to one of my favorite dispensaries to show one of the budtenders some of my buds. i've been worrying about residual powdery mildew, since i've seen a few little spots here and there. you can sort of see what i mean in this example -- closeup on a tiny sugar leaf (the size of pea) i picked off an amnesia haze bud:
anyway, long story short, the guy at the dispensary gave me some really great info.
first, he said my crop was "Good" and i had nothing to worry about. then he told me that powdery mildew is so common that almost every crop has a little bit, it's almost inevitable, and it's not a big deal, and again that my buds looked safe to smoke and "Medicinal"
the last thing he told me was that the buds looked a little dark, due to too much "P" (phosphorous) during the final stage of flowering. and that's what's giving my amnesia haze that distinct smell -- a little chemically.
so, overall, this was all a huge relief. i'm still inspecting the buds carefully everytime i burp the jars (still twice a day), but i'm no longer getting an ulcer about it. also, now i know not to overdo it on the bloom nutes next time especially in the final couple weeks before harvest.
and for parts 3 and 4, had dinner out with my gf and we went to a comedy show featuring ngaio bealum and a special appearance by none other than ED ROSENTHAL!! i was literally 3 feet from him. he was funny, informative, and totally stoned hahahaha... lost his train of thought on more than one occasion.
all in all, a great 4/20. thanks for reading!

That hill had to of smelled absolutely amazing. I can only imagine how many different strains were actually being smoked at that time. 
It's a shame that you aren't going to be growing for awhile since you have been able to grow some "medicinal" quality bud! Much respect man and thanks for sharing your 420.
. lots of factors go into this: primarily, i need to keep my gf happy (at least for a few more months). then we have a series of guests visiting and staying in the room. finally there's a lot of stuff happening in my work life that i need to dedicate time to, and plants suck up my time in this way that i love, but that realistically becomes tough to balance with work. it sucks bro, sorry i can't grow with you for a while. but if you find a good deal on a house, or a shed, or a tent somewhere, let me know
