HoopHouse April Vermont

Other than keeping the temps up anything I got to keep an eye on.

Don’t have space in the house and don’t want to have soil in my hydro rooms inside.

So going to try and have everything that’s started from seed this year be vegging outside, generally i’ve kept them inside under T5s until like June.

I’ll cut clones for outside also but not worried about putting them out since i’ll wait till like mid may.

But should I be trying to light the hoop house? Just monitoring temps? I think my lighting should ample as it’s rising around 630 and setting like 7.

Will be trying to have 2 light deps (10x20s) then the rest will be full term outside.

Will also have a hoop house for tomatoes and rows and rows of veggies and fooood.

3 bedrooms in the house are full of plants.

1 is my veg room, 1 is my flower then the last is our vegetable seed starting section.

Busy busy, trying to be!

Thanks,

Maybe i’m over thinking and they’ll be fine but haven’t grown in a hoophouse/ greenhouse yet.

hope you got a big ass heater,we get freezing temps for at least another month. Also will need some lights unless you doing depo.

If you haven't already got some, consider a couple of inexpensive thermometers that have a hi/lo temp and also register humidity level. Some can transmit the temps from inside your greenhouse to a small receiver you have indoors, etc. Valuable info.

This time of year will have lots of temperature fluctuation, and you may be able to glean enough from your thermometers to know what to expect regarding when to open or close doors, flaps and air vents or add heat.

How are you doing the light Deps , I hope not manually ?
not huge hoop houses for the light dep.

Yes will be manual.

Maybe will have a crank but a 8 foot tall hoop house shouldn’t be terrible to pull.

People i’ve talked to around here have done it manually with no major complaints rather than the obvious , it would be easier if it was automatic but automated ones fail and then your fucked

I don’t really have a big ass heater no, Hmmm
Maybe i should get a propane one or something ?
Need lights as in because it’s dark for so long?

Yeah i have a sensor push thermometer and humidity level that’s bluetooth and graphs everything on my phone.

So that should be helpful but curious what temps will get down at night

I’ll be doing depo in a separate hoop house but th is hoophouse will be for veggies but was planning on using it to house all the younger plants before they hit the fields also.

So what do i need for that then?

Supplemental light at night? Some sort of heater for night also

If you can swing it, your supplemental light could be timed to provide supplemental heat too. Usually the coldest temps are very early morning.

If the light alone isn't always enough for heat generation, a milk house heater with a thermometer control can be set to kick in when temps get too low.

Good luck with your garden this year.

I was going to say maybe a 1k MH in there a few places could warm it up also

Also have a small wood stove i was contemplating putting in there and properly venting through the endwall.

22 YO and trying to make the garden thang work. Got summer and falls off so trying to make this my job.:) .

Build cash this year then hoepfully next year can have some more tech stuff haha

I have a unheated GH for my veggie starters it will be mid late april before putting any thing out there, Night temp just to cold My clones don't go out there till early may with extra light

Okay i can feel that.

also going to get the wood stove vented up there and set up and see how much that warms it up at night.

But that timeframe sounds pretty accurate.

Hoping to get stuff in the like early april if it stays above 50-60 at night with heater.

Toss a 1k CMH for a few hours at night ??

Was hoping you guys may have some pointers on who makes a good dep system that you're happy with or who to stay away from.

Much success..

Heat. You need to make it and store it........water holds heat well and releases it slow. If you do end up putting the wood stove in there and can get your hands on some thick steel or aluminum lay it on top of the stove it will help hold heat. 22 with summer and fall off.....I smell a ski instructor haha jk
