Well My wifes Company ( she works for a fortune 500 health care insurance company) Has a wellness program. By Answering questions online and participating in a elective Health Club. Because she participates We save about 400 bucks a year. those that dont participate pay 400 bucks more. Now question. is it a matter of Symantics?

The people in the article can save 600 bucks a year on their insurance if they participate. Or they can elect to be a bunch of fat lazy slobs and pay the standard price. is it all better for you now?

or will you still be pissed off becuase your Haterade is ineffective?

She isnt worried. And Health insurance Stock prices are still on the Rise

One thing you can say about Wall Street
They Invest in Futures. Not pasts

NEW YORK (AP) -- Drug and hospital companies led stocks higher Monday after House lawmakers ended months of uncertainty and approved the health care overhaul bill.
The Dow Jones industrial average rose about 44 points. Broader indexes also climbed.

Emanuel to city workers: Use 'wellness plan' or pay more for insurance

September 16, 2011|By John Byrne | Tribune reporter

Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced a “wellness plan” today aimed at keeping city employees healthier by charging them an extra $50 per month for if they don't participate.
Workers and their spouses can participate for free and the only requirements are annual health screenings and follow-up phone calls from medical providers to point them to areas of concern, Emanuel said at a news conference with Chicago Federation of Labor President Jorge Ramirez, whose group represents major unions representing city workers.

“The only thing that won't be free is not trying,” Emanuel said.
Emanuel estimated the city will save $20 million on health care in the first year. Emanuel, who is trying to close a budget hole of $636 million for 2012, said “you cannot get from here to there on the budget without getting under control.”
The program is set up so employees who participate will avoid the $50 increase, Ramirez said.
Workers will not have to meet health benchmarks to stay in the program, but have to listen to recommendations about improving their health. Federation officials estimated up to 30,000 union members and spouses would participate.

they have to go to a health screening once a year AND listen to a follow up phone call?

where will they possibly find the time?

fefefeffefeffefefef seems to have made up a bunch of sob stories about single mothers of three who work eight jobs having $600 taken from them for his own indignation.

like most feffeffefefefefefefefef threads, it ended up being for our amusement.

LOL!

it's like watching a little kid pouting over not wanting to eat his vegetables.

it's not always some sort of philosophical conspiracy jeff.

the predicted benefits in savings to the government health insurance program from receiving just ONE health screening per year, and the benefits to the overall health of the workforce are enough to justify this program and the penalties involved.

maybe this new mayor actually wants to have a healthier workforce... it'll be better for the finances, for the city AND the workers themselves....

i cant wait until someone has a heart attack or breaks a leg while excercising and sues the fuck out of this little commie bastard.
fefffefeffefffffefef, this thread was fail from post 1. you obviously did not comprehend that no one is being forced to exercise, there are no health benchmarks to meet, it is a health checkup once a year and a phone call with suggestions. preventative care. a stitch in time saves nine.

why does it hurt when i use my thinking parts ma'?
headache is the most common side effect of your boner pills.

I bet you are a real big huge fat lazy redneck arent ya
so if i decide NOT to take 50 bucks a month from you, you put that in the "savings" column of your budget sheet? hahahahaha

i am headed to the bank right now to explain that to them. i should be rich in no time.

lazy? yes, with all that "sending kids to college" and "paying rent" and "working a few jobs" and "raising children" nonsense......i am just too fucking lazy to go to the gym.

keep talking brother, i love it.

of course it will carl marx. i bet the city workers will have more energy too.

you guys commie logic is like an episode of the twilight zone. just swallow this pill, it will make you all better.

i am so thankful to see that the stupid employees of chicago are too fucking dumb to go to the doctor once a year for a checkup, and call into their govt sponser to report the results, that the honorable mayor will only fine them 50 bucks a month if they fail to comply. chicago city workers are so fucking stupid they probably dont even know how to read their insurance policy. i bet they are so fucking stupid that when their kid has a 107 fever, they wont even know to take the kid to the ER. i often wonder if they are smart enough to read a digital thermometer. thank God we finally have a govt run program, with a 600 dollar annual fine to promote health for these poor stupid govt employees. it will make for a much happier city workforce.

after all, its for your own good.

we're not in the 60s anymore. your commie rhetoric won't scare me into thinking that a program that will actually help people isn't worth it.

there's rhetoric, then there's reality.

you are blabbering on endlessly about rhetoric. it's time to face reality.

the evidence suggests that preventive care is more effective than reactive care.
