Horse Manure/Urine in Soil?

Ok so I didnt know exactly which section to put this but here goes:

I just helped a friend outfit an old dirt floor horse barn into a green house. The question Im coming up with is this.

How can I tell if the soil is toxic from the horse manure/ urine that covers the ground there?

The barn has not been used in several years and everything is broken down, the soil looks rediculously good but id hate to take the limited number of plants i have and burn them by putting them in soil that isnt good for them em.

thnx in advance for any usefull info

You can get NPK soil testers from plant nurseries that measure the amount of salt in the soil. Also you could pour water through it and measure the pH and ppm. Make sure you measure the water before you pour it through the soil so you have a basis of comparison. Or you could just plant a seed/clone in ti and see how it turns out.

If the manure was on the ground for years it should be okay to use, manure should broken down for at least 6months from fresh for use.

As for smell like i said its been years since the lst horse was in the area and there is no smell the manure has all broken down and become basically dirt itself.

It wasnt the manure i was particularly worried about it was the urine in the soil cause a salt overload and burning the plants for the last two responses...I do appreciate the info though guys..thnx
