Here it refers to a blowback or 'shotgun' for some reason. I know shotgun refers to other things colloquially. Hotbox means smoking in an enclosed space here, and that makes sense to me if you're turning your room or space (the box) into a smoke sauna.

A hotbox is when u get ur friemds in a inckosed space and u close the doors or windows and U literally fill it with smoke to where u can only see smoke.. We used to hotbox my izuzu axiom so much that i would go outta town for theweekemd amd leave my windows dowm come back amd it would still reek ofweed. Even days i didnt smoke in it, iwould go thru a drive thru and i could hear people sayin DAAAYYYUUUMM SMELLS GOOD. gladi crashed that car before i could get pulledover in it cause thats a fersure dui.

it may interest you to know that around these parts, "hotboxing" is when someone takes a million hits/drags of your joint or cigg, then hands it back to you with a 2 inch head and the whole thing is burning hot so you can't take a hit again until you blow the head (hehe) so it shrinks back down to normal size. common in high school bathrooms.
