Hey,

just came across these cheap led boards. They dont specify the watts per bulb or the total wattage. Anyone have any suggestions on this panel? im on the market for some good cheap panels that i can do small grows of 1 plant in DWC.

The watts for the whole panel is 13.8. That sucks. The only way to compare a LED to any other light source is to compare lumen since the LED's are not measured in any way to watts. I hand build my LED's and I make them so they put out 130,000 lumen. That is comparable to a 750 hps or mh, but without the huge electric bill.

there is a law that makes LED companies that sell wholesale to list the Maximum wattage thier electrical device can take.. in other words, that 90w UFO is probably really a 50w LED. LED companies dont do this on purpose but its a rule they must follow. Most will tell you " Actual Draw" if you ask or they have it in thier wording somewhere. I was a CFL grower that outgrew the cfls but didnt want the heat from HPS as it was heat from the cfls that was my problem. I have gotten a couple of 240w lights from http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-7-Band-240w-LED-Grow-Light.asp and they have really helped, i have been able to remove some cfls and i have much more wattage now as per the same heat. I was pleasantly surprised when i got this response when i asked the true Wattage of thier LEDs.. here is copy of:

Hello

Thank you for your purchase.

We manufacture some of our LED's. The 90, 135, 120, 240, and 300 watt models are all manufactured by us! We also carry some manufactured by High Yield Lighting, under the AgroMax Professional Series, those are the 432 and 864 watt 7-Band and the 150, 210, 280, and 370 watt Professional Series 5 Band LED's.

Our manufactured LED's operate at the stated wattage! Since we are not selling them to wholesalers or other retailers, we do not fall under ANSI regulations. ANSI regulations require that electronic products must state the maximum wattage the unit CAN pull, which as you have read may not be the actual draw. So our branded LED's will pull the stated wattage. You have the 240w LED and that does pull 240w.

The AgroMax Professional LED's pull on average 80% of what they are described as, due to the fact that they are sold to distributors and no directly to the customer, and thus fall under ANSI requirements.

Thanks again and have a niceday
