Now that you have that bad ass tester you dont have to be a student no more sir.... you can go ahead and become a scientist and start making your own test ya know?... As you can see there are tons of ways to grow weeeeed..:weed:.. The only way that it works is the way that it works for you... There are tons of articles made by growers (well at least i think they grow) that state that using plain Viniger for UP... and lemon juice for DOWN is one of the safest and organic ways of adjusting the PH. I am not sure if the adjustment lasts like F^&cker #2 stated LOL. But now you can do your own tests eh?

There are Hydro Organic ph + and -, But im not sure how much they cost and last.

Lemon juice that you can buy at any US store is very cheap... $1.34 for a bottle and 5 - 10 drops is usually what i need to adjust when i over shoot. But with your pen youll be able to see how many it takes for YOUR water.

Lemon juice or vinegar do not work very well in comparison to a proper bottle of ph up or down.
I bought a one part grow formula and a one part bloom formula from a little known company and a bottle of ph up,cost me a total of 15 quid(30 dollars).
I can tell you that spending a few quid on decent stuff from a small yet respected company gives you great results.

If you spend some care and attention and use fairly cheap nutes and lights you can still get great results.
Never forget that half the cost of most of what you see is just the name,that's all your really being ripped off for.
All you need to do is read the labels and know what your plants need and what is actually in the product that your buying.

It may well be named"supreme ginormous gnarly bud mix 7007 max super potent giant bud mega mix" but chances are that its no where near as good as the stuff that some little known companys are mixing.

Thats the shit right there.. But of course thats allways the next step.... then you get worried about what IS in it and what it does ...lol... a company called "earth juice" claim to have hydro grade organic ph up and down... BUt like i said... IM not one of those Organic only people.. but if i can well thats just best. Hell I started using the Pool granule ph up and down lol... shit for $5 you get a big ass tub and it works very well.... (very little for big changes) but i just couldnt stop thinking that i was putting Pool ph up and down in my plants... it just didnt sit well... works great.... but i just dont know....lol...

in what way do you say they dont work well? I just am not getting what you mean.

watering them every other day is not very good advice,, depending on the soil it might be every 3 or 4 or 5 or even 6 days between watering.....:leaf:

Damn, every other day would be WAY over watering them. I water them once every 5 or 6 days and people still say the look over watered.
I'll get pics in a few minutes. The biggest plants has black on the some leaves, but I don't know what it is.
Any ways I'll be back in a few minutes.

I'm really frustrated at the rate of growth. I'm going to add 1/4 strength big bloom when I water tonight. Hope it decreases ph a bit.

How are my seedlings looking? You think that they will be the same size as my other plants by next week if I decrease ph and use big bloom? Really want to harvest soon.

Dont be thinking of harvest so soon my man... wait till week 6 -8 of flowering and start trippin...lol... I have had seeds come up with purple stems like that and they did grow allot slower. I beleave that it is a deficiency....some call it lock out... Some say its strain specific... your gonna find out.

I think they will pull through.. the new growth looks fairly green. Are you still in the no nutrient soil mix? Only giving it the big bloom?

I remind you that big bloom is recomended to be used with foxfarm ocean forest soil. (that means with other nutrients) check out the website...



Did you buy the grow big yet?... You need that by week 2... right now your plants dont have any nutrients... flushed... then only given that big bloom add on... how fast do expect them to grow?

LOL, let me rephrase that. I want to start flowering asap so I could harvest asap. Still no nutes whatsoever. Next water I am going to give them 1/2 tablespoon Big bloom and after that I'll be giving the same amount of big bloom and 1/2 teaspoon per gallon grow big.

The seedlings roots are filling up the cup really quickly the bottom of the cup is almost filled with twisty roots. I'll post pics of this later. For the seedlings I am just going to give them 1/2 tablespoon per gallon big bloom for a couple of weeks.

Oh, and I'm thinking I should probably transplant. All the plants have roots coming out of the bottom of the pots. 3 Gallon Pots will be sufficient, right?

I don't know man. I'm a newb grower (No pics because of bad camera) but my plants are growing fine and when I started them from seed, i fed them no nutes and just tap water, they grew fine. I knew the PH was off too but oh well, out of 8 plants I came out 7 females growing great.

Must be fem seeds... Are you sure the 8th isn't a fem too.

Oh, and the water every other day guy with carbonated water...

Double bad.

Carbonated water is carbonated by co2, bad for the roots will sufficate them, actually h2o2, hydrogen peroxide is good for the roots, oxygen to the roots, co2 to the leaves... Co2 is heavier than air... Yaddayaddayadda. :leaf:

Alright, I just watered all the plants. Used 1/2 tablespoon of Big Bloom and then added lemon juice and got the ph down to 6.8. A couple of the plants have blotches of black dots on them. Could this be a disease or just from foliar feeding?

Whats up bud...I looked through your thread and it looks like you have a P def....usually with P def the leaves will turn anywhere from red to purple. I seen that your PH is pretty high, when I veg mine I keep it at 5.5 and when I bud I kick it up to 5.9 for better uptake of nutes. I have grown in soil for years, but now its hydro all the way indoors. If I was you, I would water with RO water for a week and see if they snap out of it.
