How big can I expect these to finish at

Ok wicked, heres the deal, you will have problems if you dont LST or scrog them. You could do a combination of both if youd like. These are not complicated things to do, trust me, ive even managed to not mess it up. LST is as simple as tying knots, i know you can do that. Tie them down. Easy right. They will recover and be stronger. Scrog is just fastening a screen to your box and letting the plant fill the screen as it grows. This allows more grow time, more root development time before flower, and ultimately more bud.
Once the plant fills enough of the screen, put it into flower and two weeks later remove almost everything under the screen. you will have an explosion of colas sticking out the top. Your only other option is to flower now and hope for the best. Plants recover from every kind of tourture you can throw at them. :):):)

Gotcha, thanks for that correction,,, so sativa it is than lol so would 15 be my ideal height,, and im thinking of getting mg bloom booster, but will mixing them with the fox farm trio be bad when I get them,, or would I have to flush it out before starting feeding with the trio??

Ok so if I wait till 15in to flower, and then gradually over them first two weeks, add more lights, and nutes, will that be ok, will they adjust ok with that? im not trying to get a big harvest, just want a harvest lol and a grow under my belt

I just popped 7 seeds, once they germinate, im going to veg them for 1-2 weeks, and flower them..

I know exactly what you mean with just wanting a grow under your belt. haha. One of my two is hermie, I took it out, and im going to throw it in back yard, away from the grow box.

The other one will be flipped to flower when these seeds have veged for a week or two :D cant wait till i get some bud lol

I would let the 8 inch plant hit close to a foot then flower...try the scrog if you can, it's hard to mess up and makes maintaining them easy

And should be fine to just start adding your ff trio...but in two weeks i would advise a flush anyway to wash some salts away

the reason i suggested a ScROG style grow is it will utilize your flourecent lights better focusing all your light on one even canopy. If you dont train them the top of the plants will get good light and the sides and middle are going to get the shaft. heres a quick diagram.

Scrogvsnorm.jpg

as you can see in my simple diagram, the plant that has been put under a ScROG screen will have a more powerfull and even light distribution on the entire plant. where as the one without any screen or training will not. you will only be able to have the light as low as the top of the plant. below the yellow line light is going to start getting weaker and weaker and your side branching is not going to grow as big as it potentially could.

i realize your nervous about trying new things but i assure you a ScROG screen is nothing to it. it will allow you to maintain a shorter canopy, veg as long as you would like and provide even distribution in your lighting. the end results will be bigger, more dense buds .

if the screen intimidates you just do a LST this will at least bushout the plant and make the side branches reach for the top...

heres a pic of some LST i did in my room just the other day. im not easy with them when i do it, not brutally rough either. i just tie a knot around the top and tie em down to the rim of my container.

I plan on scroging my next grow I just wanna finish this one how I started,,, and actually my t12s run up the back of my cab for backlight, then I have them cfls positioned alll around, for top, sides, and bottom branch light,, so I think the bottom branches are getting pretty good light,, plus when I add them rest, they will be set in good positions too,, I think I can finish strong without lst or scroging this time,,, like I mentioned, not worried about the size of the harvest,or the quality, though im hoping quality is good,, but I just want to get around the learning curve so I can grow my grade a beans

well good luck man, theres people who have been growing for years and get stumped sometimes. the learning curve definatly is not over after your first grow. by thinking it is your only setting yourself up for future failure.

im not trying to sell you the scrog, just inform you of the benifits of doing it.

best of luck to ya m8

^ what he said , if you wanna pull the branches right down , do it bit by bit over a few days , I split my plant down the midle haha . Cable tied it back together , didn't affect it much luckily. That will help you get a nice flat canopy and make good use of your cfls and flueros : )

Def recommend some canopy management. I have been LSTing for about a year now and I will never go back. Even if they made 1,000,000,000,000 watt lights...I'd tie my bitches down. It is a so much more efficient use of light and the height management allows you to grow any strain without worry. I have never had a strain finish over 2 feet with this method, most finish around a foot or so. And that height is pretty much all stretch. No popcorn. Just a bunch of medium sized, dense buds. I don't top though...to me you are just cutting off one of the biggest buds on the plant and with lst or scrog, the two branches that take over for the top are exposed anyway. But that is just my personal opinion. I tie down everything and it is pretty much scrog without the screen. I would scrog but I like the ability to move my plants. Check out my grow if you get a chance.

I know what you mean wanting to just grow your first crop out without much torture. That's what I did, er, that was the plan. I had early growth problems and once they got going I was hesitant to "hurt" them in any way. Long story short I would have 6 footers by now. I had to emergency top late in VEG, and tied down mid into flower.

Still it's working out well and I'm able to control the stretch although some of my branches go horizontal now. I tied them down to the pots with a slip knot so I can adjust the height as necessary. I'm perpetual, and their clones are rapidly growing too but they've been topped already. I have more height then you, across 2 separate cabinets, but I'm limited on Sq. footage. Perpetual is proving tricky to dial in, because the clones are growing out of the veg cabinet before the flowering cabinet empties out. For me topping is going to be better although more stress, because if I just lst early on they will be too bushy. I do plant to try scrog also that seems very advantageous.

Good luck. IMO just grow out how you want you are all learning now anyways. When you have problems, deal with them and seek advice from this great resource.

topping does not cause stress read this by uncle ben. tells what happens to plants when topped.
its long the first page tells it all just reread a few times and will make sense.
