How can I fireproof my grow room?

I heard a crazy story the other day that one of my friends grow rooms caught on fire and she got busted w 90 plants.

I am considering growing in my basement which is unfinished. I was gonna finish half of it (stick a wall and a door up) an grow in that part of the basement.

Are there specific types of materials that i could use in case there was a fire that would help prevent burning my entire house to te ground if something crazy happened?

Fire retartent foam board or 5/8'' drywall is fire rated .. And of course cinder blocks dont burn

There are 25 other things to worry about then fire.

so i've always had the fire fear from growing indoors. mostly because i was in an apartment and didn't want someone else to die because of my fire....

anyways... i thought "waterballoons"

Pipe dream. Is that like an high idea.

If your plants catch fire and its too late to save them, just stand next to them and inhale deeply to get your money's worth.

Not a bad idea, except that water and electricity do not mix very well. If one of the balloons were to burst for a reason other than a fire and shorted out all of your lighting and made it worthless then that would be the last day for the balloons.

If you really want to get serious about fire, then you get whats called an "Ansul" system, its a flame detector/fire alarm system matched to a foaming/powdered agent that disperses the foam/powder over the fire. Commercial kitchens/restaurants sometimes have them, most government buildings with grills have them. Not something you install yourself.

Simple method?? couple of fire extinguishers in a handy place.

If you dont half ass your setup you should not have any more worries than what you normally would with anything else electric in your home. And no, do not use water on an electrical fire, unless you have been able to kill the electricity.

just buy a grow tent they are flame resistant
