Yes i am staaying 100% away from MG from now on, not only because i beleive there are better products out there but also because MG is a subsidiary of Monsanto which i would prefer not to support.

is pro-mix a decent medium? i was thinking about getting acouple bales of that, also my hydro store has some bags of botanicare soiless anyone know anything about that?
Pro-mix is fine, you have to totally control the nutrients as if it's hydro though.

Promix is a soilless mix. It looks like soil, smells like soil, tastes like soil, but it is not soil. There are no nutes in it at all. It is PH balanced perfectly for MJ.
I prefer Promix over any soil. I have 100% control of what is in, or is not in it as for nutes. You can use hydroponic solutions for sure. Not sure for nutes
designed for soil though, I would think you can, but I wont tell someone something unless I know for sure. I used Promix last year, and used basic cheap GH nutes,
and got some of the best results I ever got. I am transitioning to 100% hydro, just because I do not feel like getting rid of a bunch of soil when it is done.
I wouldn't mind using Promix for everything, but there are no stores around here that sells it, and shipping costs almost the same as the mix itself.

Bigger pots, more light, training, better soil mix.

I don't knock MGO. It's a good base soil for making your own organic mix. YES you have to add lots of good shit to it. But if it's the only soil you have access to and your willing to amend it then you'll be ok. Lot's of work amending MGO. It takes about 10 amendments and about 30 days to incubate.

Compost tea has been used by vegetable growers to get record yields, try that if you like. It's got to be good compost though.

thanks for coming out Northern Lights and shizz.

your post gives me confidence NL, the roots will definately have way more room to grow this summer and i will be amending my soil alot more. im hoping training will make the big difference too, im planning on topping each plant when they are about 3 weeks in, im hoping that by doing this ill be able to keep the plants bushier and under 6ft (i dont like not being able to see the top) and get multiple top colas. Iv read uncle bens topping technique so im pretty comfortabl but since iv never done this before is there anything i should worry about? All i do is cut the stem with a clean razor right above the nodes correct? and how much stress will this cause/ how long will it take to begin growth again?

and yeah im not knockin MG either it worked better than i thought it would last season and i dont really have a problem with the super chemically aspect to it. the one thing about MG that i am 100% against is there association with monsanto. I know Monsanto is fucking huge and its hard boycot them but ill sleep alittle better at night knowing that my growing is not supporting an evil capatilist corperation

Also its fine to trim some of the fan leaves during flowering to alow more light to the bottom buds right? just as long as i dont go crazy and strip the plant?

It's better to try to tuck them away or interlock with another leaf to allow more light, the fan leaves are the main energy producers. And I agree about Monsanto, they actually patented a pig that has been raised naturally somewhere in England for decades. They want to control EVERYTHING food related. Fuck them.

Miracle Grow Organic Potting Soil is not OMRI listed. As far as I'm concerned they ought to not be calling it organic. They might want to call it SEMI-ORGANIC, or SCOTT'S ORGANIC. My MGO's defo organic now, wasn't when I bought it at the store.

thanks shizz, ill take your advice on that, the plants will handle it better by then too

Yeah exactly wtf how can you patent a pig, or seeds for that matter even though they just GM them. Monsanto is so controlling, farmers only have one year to plant there seeds, and if they have extra to plant next year the 'Monsanto farmer police' and fine the SHIT outa the farmers because the seeds are patented. and they force farmers who want to use there seeds to get educated in all this shit thats none of there concern like chemistry and stuff, im not talking alittle reading while on the shitter actuall work. they want to control everything
