How can I protect my plants?

In the place that I have chosen (woods), there are generally a lot of rabbit holes, and I could imagine there would be the occasional deer at night time too (although I've never seen one in all my day trips I did see a rabbit run away in the bushes).

i want to use a Fence to protect my plants which will be planted after 3 weeks in the windowsill in peat pots.

im from the uk, my question is how would I go about setting up a little chicken wire fence around each of my plants (which will be scattered in different places in pots)
i have no idea how to use the wire, how do you make it nice and sturdy, and do you need to cut the wire with a special tool? Is it difficult?
and also are there any more easy alternatives? Such as perhaps some all round pesticide protection product that I haven't heard of?
anything will do doesn't have to be a fence just anything that will keep away the deer n rabbit

I'm going to be doing an outdoor grow this year, I'm going to use chicken wire also. I figured I would just use zip ties and make the fence into a ring around each plant instead of doing it around the whole grow. And do not skip this step! I had 80% of my crop eaten by a deer last year, and it was in a place I never would've thought it to happen. Also I'm going to be getting some diatomaceous earth to spread on the soil around the plants to kill bugs like ants, beetles, etc.

Its the deer that is the problem and will just stomp on some flimsy cage around the plant. You need to put in posts about 12" deep every 6 foot and wrap the role of chicken fencing around the poles (patch) tie the wire to the poles, run more wire around the top of the poles and attach the top of the fence to it with pieces of wire. Anchor the fence down with tent pegs or heavy logs.
If you dont do this and just sprinkle pepper, lion piss or Irish dish soap etc you will pay the price.

Agreed, and you don't want them trampling the fence and mashing your ladies - completely counterproductive I'd say

where can I acquire the poles?
And the place is so far away and with no car I'm gonna have trouble carrying that stuff.

Well shit, now you guys got me worried as hell haha

Alternatively.. you could hoist them in bins up into trees.. they'd get more light due to not having 100% tree canopy coverage, with proper drainage should be ok, and are out of reach for the major headaches for the most part. Just a suggestion, not saying it's optimal.. but with no car and being far away, it may be a ton easier than toting 2x2 posts and spending a few days with a post hole digger.

It's just sort of annoying and feels kinda pointless growing outdoors sometimes, I mean if I do all of that and put some obvious fence around each plant then someone will see it. And if I don't, then a deer will eat it. It's like wtf am I meant to do?

What do u mean bins? Like put soil in the bins? I don't get that at all.

Yes, exactly.. with drainage holes so it doesn't flood and kill your crops - it's been done by more than a few guerilla growers on the forums, and there's plenty of tips/suggestions on how to do it safely and keep a bit of sanity at the same time.

I think I'm gonna set up a bunch of Indiana jones style booby traps haha.

Why bins and not pots? Bins are too big to carry all the way to where I'm going

I can't comment on this as one of my answers includes traps that'd kill humans or anything that triggered it.. and do not want a corpse messing with my grow.

I figured a bin with multiple plants may prove more viable than you trying to load your arms up with 6 planters.. you could do it either way though.

The roots would tangle you should never have more than one in the same container no matter what it is, we'll that's what I was told, but thanks for the help

The bin as it is could also be used to just hoist a ton of planters into the air with 4 ropes instead of 4 ropes for each planter, figured you would have considered that part at least.

Hey BUDS where the hell can I get some lion piss........I'd hate to be the poor mofo collecting it anyway back to the subject at hand......... my dealings with deer are in my vegtable garden never had a problem in my herb garden I've tried everything you could think of and nothing worked for me but a sturdy fence about 6 ft high if you feel comfortable doing that kind of thing it's not the best idea if you are trying to be stealthy but it works. I'm sure there are other methods that can be used to remedy your problems what didnt work for me may work for you

So... Anyone gonna tell me where I can get them poles? :/
