How Can I Reduce My Temps?

Hi Peeps,

I have recently built my own grow tent, as you can see from construction its been pretty cheaply done. A cheap garden propagator covered with white shiny plastic bag and then covered with a further application of black bin liners.

The temps have increased to around 110 and obviously I need to reduce this but I am already using a 12 inch fan within the tent how can I reduce temp further

Do you have an exhaust fan in there extracting the old air?

you need to get the hot air out and some cooler air in so i would at least buy 2 6 inch inline duct booster fans and have them exchanging the air. also have the area around that tent cool. my tents was runing that hot till i air conditioned the room they are in i keep this room at 68 and i got exhaust fans and intake fans going and now my tents are staying around 76 that is with 1000 watt lights in them. so give that a try.

Nice one for the helps chaps. Just to clarify I need to have one small fan facing inwards and one facing outwards effectively?

yes make sure the one taking air out is near the top since heat tends to rise and the intake fan is near the bottom. but that should help. at least put an exhaust fan near the top

hi mate, is that light i see beaming out of the tent?? if so. nightmare with hermies later on .. imho.. light leaks everywhere. u got to seal them up..

you cud make ur tent bigger !! use the materials u allread av and improvise a bigger tent allowing the heat to not be confided in a smaller space, coz i av a tent not much bigger than urs, real one ere like but same principle and my 5 inch fan can keep my temps around 80 tops so wiv a 12 inch if u seal up all the gaps and create some negative pressure and it shud suck that heat out a lot more efficient, or just seal up ur own there and try and get a lil neg pressure and see if that helps !!! good look in what ever u do !!!

I'm guessing you're trying to do this on the cheap? Good for you. May I suggest that you need only one fan to exhaust with an intake vent on the opposite side. the negative air pressure will bring in the air from the vent without the need of an additional fan. Cheaper initial cost with one fan and cheaper to run with one fan. Also the paradox of additional fans is that the more fans you run, the more heat you produce therefore the more fans you need, etc.
