How can you get color in your plant??

Is there any way that will work to get color in your plant?? when I was a kid in high school ppl would tell me food coloring add to the water would work. I never try to do it but one day I started thinking is it for real or not? so now that I'm on here I ask you guys out there for a lil help in the matter. I did hear that cold air in the room in the last week gives a fall look to the plant. if anyone is willing to fill me in.

Just curious, why would you want to add artificial color to a naturally colorful and beautiful plant? Worth the risk?

Either a lot of cold or a lot of P and K will give black leaves.
What color you want?

It's a harvestable crop.. while it can be a prety plant, most of it's life is in the ugly duckling stage.

That said, lower your temps at night and she will usually turn some reds and purple.. some strains deep purple, most strains at least a little.. some strains not at all.

But at what cost?.. the color changing is the reaction of the roots slowing down their phosphorus uptake..

Food coloring? Nay, I don't even ingest it in food, let alone grass.. let alone if I were smoking it..


If you just want pretty grass to look at it, you cold probably spray some with some kind of glossy paint to preserve.. heh..

Suppermario, check out Purplemaxx. It can be added at start of flower and it will bring out alot of purples in a few weeks as well as enhance other natural colors.

There is a guy that uses food coloring and Injects it into the branch. Over time it will change the color above the point you injected the food coloring solution. He had a couple colors, yah they look cool. I think a couple cool colored buds with be awesome, as long as the taste was still good.
I agree there are other ways to alter color. As mention before.

I will look in to it sounds cool do you know if it will slow buds from growing

Be careful with purple max and snowstorm as they're easy to overdo, and as they say, your plants better be healthy if you plan on using. You can get very nice results though if dosed properly.

I work my light cycle so it's off during the colder part of the day (overnight) when trying to get a bit of color. I also use COLD water during the last couple weeks rather than room temp water. In winter, I run my lights overnight as the daytime temp in my basement runs about 55 degrees which is plenty for some color changes. And then again, some strains won't want to change color at all, just the way it is?

If you are new/semi-new to growing.. I have a suggestion - as much as you may not like it. Stick with strains that are naturally green. This will be of infinite value to us in the way of troubleshooting/helping you recover your plants should you have major issues and you are seeing colors that shouldn't be there (at that point, anything but green (statistically) would be potential problem)

Krylon Burgundy is what I put on my Purps. People are amazed how firm and tight the buds are.

Disagreed, the Purplemaxx isn't to bring out color.. the purple you experienced happened to be purple pheno and/or nute problems.. the Humboldt mix in question increases production of essential oils, and is purported to pack the flowering sites closer together, in theory.. producing more flowers, and therefore bud.

Agreed on the 'overdo' part.. Humboldt puts out some solid stuff, but less is generally more or you will burn things very quickly. If you do decide to go with the Purplemaxx route.. -test it against your strain- to find optimal level.

cold temps at night during flowering deff makes dark purples, blacks, dark blues, ive seen all these personally.... but i didnt like it thats when i added heating duct into my gro room lol

This is not my 1st show as they call it but this is the 1st time I'm running it by myself I have been in my bedroom. This tent is for me to try new things on my own I'm going to do a supper crop and I want to do one color plant and I'm going to try a teach one to grow round and top the shit out of another.. I'm trying to test new things out and have some fun with it and write it all down and take pics the hole way and post my notes in the end if it works out for others to try
