How do I apply sawdust to my soil?!

The ph in my soil is kind of high (7.5-8.0). I wanted to add sawdust to my soil to bring it down, but I was just wondering how much sawdust should I use, and also how would i apply the sawdust to the soil? Should I just put it on top of the soil or what? Thanks!

i am interest in where you heard about saw dust and since when is that acidic? I would go with some sort of acid and then add it to your water mixture.

in the GrowFAQ on this site it states "If your soil needs to be more acidic, sawdust, composted leaves, wood chips, cottonseed meal, leaf mold and especially peat moss, will lower the soil pH."

Okay well vinegar is acetic acid and i think if you add that to your water then take the PH and make it around 5ish and do that until its at your desired level. However make sure that you dont use a vinegar that is like for dressing. try to get something cheap that doesent have any additives, apple cider prbly or white. if you want to go the other way with the leaves and sawdust i would immagine tha you just put in on top of the soil.

Just make sure it isn't pressure treated. Pressure treated wood has copper, arsenic, and a bunch of other bad stuff that kills you and your plants in it. Plus I've never really had it lower pH, just helped create a more or less soil less mix.
