How do I get those pretty buds?

OK, I'll try to get a photo of my sorry-ass buds up here. But when you say to air dry for at least a week, does that mean you just leave them out on a screen or hanging somewhere? My buds are pretty brittle after only a couple of days. If I leave them out a week, will there be enough water left in them to cure inside a jar?
Yeah I hang my buds on a hanger in total darkness for 7-10 days and they don't even start to feel crispy till at least 6-7 days. If your buds are crispy at 2 days then something is wrong. It's either too hot or you're blowing air across them which is also not good. You really want them to dry as slow as possible with out taking them to the point of mold.

I grow great looking dense bud with a 400w, and I know there are others on this forum who use 400w exclusively as well and get the same result.

Typically when I've had airy bud issues, it came down to too much heat in my flower room. What are your temps/humidity like?

Genetics, genetics, genetics, genetics then more genetics. Get better genetics man they control density, and get your nutrient schedule down.

if you are in soil add rock dust to your mix ( volcanic, glacial, basalt and oyster shell flour). You will get very dense buds with that in the soil and even with high temps.

I'm not saying you're wrong because I know for a fact genetics play a huge roll in quality of the end product. But HEAT is the culprit here, he said his closet is around 90 degrees and it even got to 140 degrees!! Yikes!

Never heard of that, but given I live right alongside the Rocky Mountains, I can get dumptruck loads of glacial rock dust any time I want. I'm going to try that.

Next time I do a spring water run, I'll fill up a 5 gallon bucket with rock dust.

You are lucky. I have to order that. I'd love to get it like that. The nearest hot springs here are filled with naked people so....

4 cups of rock dust per cubic foot of soil. get some oyster shell flour from the hydro shop.

I was just talking to a Hawaiian old schooler that swears by volcanic ash he sifts himself!

I've used volcanic alone and with glacial. Once I added basalt and oyster shell.flour I got rock hard buds on strains that had a little fluff before. They still dense to a point.

that Hawaiian dude probably has the best source for volcanic ash / rock dust.

He also was saying that when he couldn't get clean enough ash, he'd smash up lava rock to kitty litter size pieces and mix that in instead....

This time I grew six strains that I'd never tried before. I got decent results from Ken's GDP. The Master Kush was terrible, barely got a quarter oz. off one plant but I blame myself for that, not the genetics. The plant was all lanky and taller than the others and I cut it way back right before I set the timer for flowering. I also grew something called A+ Pine, which gave me better yield than the others but the buds look pretty sad. Then also something called Jabba's Alien, which must be Jabba's Stash X Alien I guess. Again, the buds look awful and I didn't get as much as I expected, but it smoke pretty good and packs a decent buzz. And the last two plants are Cannatonic and Harlequin. The Cannatonic is the biggest plant in the bunch. Haven't cut it down yet but the buds look like they are a decent size. The Harlequin started out looking promising but the buds on it now are pretty small. I got all the clones from dispensaries in Santa Cruz.

Next crop, I think I will start out with Pakistani and Afghan seeds, then take out the males and replace them with clones from dispensaries.
Do u know if the Santa Cruz dispensary, where u acquired the cuts from, can tell ya if the cannatonic or harlequin have high cbd levels?

I don't want to name the dispensary because so many people around here will slag a place just to put down their competition. But if you go to Weedmaps, it's right near the top of the list for Santa Cruz. They list all their clones by name. Other dispensaries just say "various clones available," or something like that... but only a few of them have clones presently. By the way, it's not Granny Purp's. That place has such a bad rep I'll never go there. As for CBD content, can't tell yet. The Harlequin and Cannatonic both SMELL different than any plants I've ever grown, giving off a kind of nasty chemical smell that I can't place... maybe "Diesel"?
