they say for widow to flower for 10 weeks for best results with last two weeks in dark or at least at 8 hours a day

Wait till get some color or tint, they need to color at least a little bit before you harvest.

when i do top i do it early i dont know what everyone else does it seems ther is a lot of ways to do the same thing which creates a lot of contraversey
but i top at 5 or 6 nodes which comes very early in veg groth

Dwezelitsame hit the nail on the head. Everybody has their own way. Once flowering starts leave her to do her thing as much as you can. Before flower you can top to your hearts content. Even if the plant is three foot high you can still top so don't sweat it.

What sort of lights do you have them under? My last grow I did with two 150w's from start to end and no problems.

The 250w HPS is a start but you might want a bit more juice otherwise it will take longer to fully reach their potential. If you don't have any other lights to add to your arsenal then just use the 250. Either way they will yield its just a matter of time.

no, it's never too late to top as long as you aren't flowering. I like to do it when they are only a few inches tall so they have plenty of time to veg and grow out before flowering. But you can do it now, you will just need to let it veg a bit longer to get back the height that you cut off.

I watch the trichromes with a 100x scope. When they start to turn amber about half way down the plant I'll cut.
