How do they look?

Hey guys,

This is my first ever attempt at growing weed...or anything except а moustache for that matter.

I've made a grow box outa some old army cargo box (15"x15"x30"). I'm going for a microgrow here. Lined the box with mylar and made some holes for two 90mm pc fans and a cable hole. For now there is only one light in the box which is some 45w CFL 6400k blue. I have a second bulb which is also 45w cfl but 2700k red but I dont have a socket splitter...been meaning to go get one this week but didn't have time, will do this weekend.

So here are some pics of the plants at precisely one week since they sprouted or 9 days since I dropped seeds. This is nirvana bubblicious i believe. How do they look?IMG_0029.jpgIMG_0028.jpg

looks like seedlings not bad...what kind of soil is that? those should be in their own containers...i would also add some perlite to new soil... when you transplant to their own pots. pots are cheap...less than a dollar each.

how far is your light?

@everyone thanks, good to know they r allright

@lime73 well, its some allpurpose potting mix my ex used to grow roses in. The bulb is hanging about 4" above the top of those little beauties. And when do you think I should repot them to separate containers. Check on perlite, thanks.

soon as possible... just be careful not to disturb roots when transplanting....yes add perlite ( 10-15%) to new soil ( pre mix before you start)will def help avoid problems down the road.

both...pots are not that big they can come in may different sizes... is height an issue, what is your maximum height that you can grow a plant too?

Transplanted them to bigger pots (still pretty small 9" pots) and I think I killed one of the seedlings. One just fell outa my hand right on the floor it left some of its roots in the dirt and one of the leafs came of. Potted it anyway. Hope it survives. Well, if not will germinate a few more seeds and continue learning...good that I have nuff free seeds.

Added some perlite to new soil.

you would be surprised at how resilient they can be.......I'm Sure it will bounce back.....I've done worse?

least you have more beans.

Live and learn...just sucks learning the hard way.

Good you added perlite, will help soil drainage and provide Oxygen to roots. ;)

As far as pot size, a good rule of thumb is to have 1 gallon of medium for every foot in height you want them to be at finish. If you are working with 22" max go with a 2 gallon pot. Good Luck and + rep for taking the leap into farming.

@bkbbudz, thanks for the pot size tip. 20" is actually more than I had in mind, It's my first grow and I'd like to keep it nice and small.

It is Day 10 since sprouted or Day 13 since I dropped the seeds:

Both seedlings look good to my unexperienced eye. The damaged one looks to be growing so guess I didn't kill it dead.

Question about the light. Got a socket splitter 2day. Is it ok to run red and blue bulbs at the same time? I don't have nearly enough light for these babies with one 45w CFL so I thought I would run both red and blue at the same time giving a total of 90w...not nuff still but thats all I have right now.

They will fill out the pot no worries. yes you can use different color temp bulbs...better spectrum ;)

other than them being in the same pot and you only having 1 light man youre looking good.go oyt to home depot and get you 6 23w 6500k cfls bro for veg.dont use your red cfl you need that 2700k for 12/12 which youll switch all bulbs to 27ooks when u go 12/12 or you could do a 3-1 ratio 1 6500k for every 2700k you can get 2 way splitters for bulbs there also for 2.50 a pop.when u do this youll have to add a fan a little cheap pc fan or 2 will do.at this stage keep ya lights an inch above your tops and u will have to adjust them during the day cuz these light greedy things love cfls for some reason they just have to be close and last get a ph tester its important some test the soil with a soil tester but just catch your water that drains and test that water also hope ive been of some assistance peace

in all seriousness though man, your well on your way to having that same looking grow on youtube...the secret is to keep them in small pots...you could ( not that i would, because it would be the biggest waste of light ever ) use a 1000 w HPS on 'em, and keep them in 16 oz. cups, and have a mature plant...oh probably no more then 8-10 inches...pot size, pot size, pot size...thats all that matters. i used to grow in 32. oz. cups, SOG, 12/12 from seed...they never broke 28" tall. throw a lil LST on them, and theres your YT grow.
