how do you clone a mother without stunting growth

I am going to have about 6-8 mother plants that i will be using and i'm wanting about 40 clones off them quite often. Every other time i've cloned i have just chopped up the whole plant and moved on. But i'd like to keep these ladies around awhile.

1. i think i've heard cut no more than 30% off at once?

2. any special part of the branch i should be cutting? like do i leave a node on the mother or cut to the big fans or?

:peace:

Growing dedicted mothers can be challenging. Once I select a hero destined to become a mother I LST and train it to grow bushy from the start. It takes a little time to be able to take the amount of clones you want to take at a time. I have 2 mothers that I trained to grow in a circle around the container that are no more than 8" tall. They give me 8 clones every 2 weeks without stunting or slowing at all. They are both over a year old. More mothers = more clones. Hope that helps.

would a 150 hps be enought light to keep 2 mothers happy in a 2x3 area?? I thought 2 moms would be enought to get 20 clones every two months, does that sound about right?

This is not a hijack I repeat this is not a hijack :)

1 - What kind of light are you veging them under?
2 - 40 Clones off each of the moms or 40 clones in all?

You should be able to easly get 20 clones off 1 plant in veg under a 150w hps

I would go with CFLs or MH but T5 bulbs should be more then enough to get 40 clones off 6 to 8 moms every month

The 2-ft. high output (HO) T5's with 4 of the 6500k or a mix of the 6500k and 3000k will work great for your mothers. I flower with two of the 4-bulb (192 watts; 16,000 lumens) in a 2 ft. x 2.5 ft. area and have very good results. I would use them to veg also, but don't have the extra $'s now to invest in them.
