How do you feel about topping auto flowers?

Make sure it is healthy and growing vigorously with 5-7 nodes....you can either top it there and see what happens and how it responds or you can not top it and just bend it over and do LST to provide light to the lower nodes.

But will the auto flower continue to grow like a photo period?

I topped above 5 once 6 started coming in. Running mephisto skywalker and grape walker kush. GWK was a day ahead of Skywalker but both have bounced back quick from the top. I did it on day 19 and 20. I probably wouldn't do it if I hadn't been at 6 or 7 nodes by end of week 3 cause it's risky with the threat of flower knocking on the door in a week or two.

So true but, how did you help it recover? Do you also have any photos?

I’ve only done one but I topped it and then a little over a week later accidentally broke the top node with the new mains off.

Still got decent size especially for a small pot.

The only difference between auto's and photo's is that due to breeding with ruderalis the plants will exhibit autoflowering. Meaning it flowers without changing the light cycle leaving the grower with less control of the grow. Many people are saying that auto's are getting better and that may be true but unless you have some compelling reason to grow auto's you're better off growing photoperiod plants.

The autoflower craze doesn't make much sense considering most people are growing them indoors and not doing it for any specific reason. They do a complete run of auto's and then start all over again which makes absolutely no sense when if you grow a photoperiod you get to decide when to flower the plant and the quality is much better more often than not.

I'm growing autos because I veg and flower in the same tent and I don't have to stagger anything. But those are all valid points and autos aren't easier to grow, they're just different. In some respects, they're more difficult because you can't just keep vegging longer to get a plant healthy. It's gonna flower when it's ready and that's that.

My skywalker is doing great, my GWK not as well. They're both in flower now and recovered well from topping. However, I got some issue with the GWK and I'm not sure exactly what. I think its a nitrogen toxicity but could be a PH issue at heart. The PH from my water has been fluctuating lately :-/ Ironically my skywalker suffered from low PH and GWK I think is suffering from soil that's too high. I should be able to see during my next watering through the runoff. Once I know what the deal is, I can correct it.

There’s 3 main reasons I grow autos atm.

1. Can have a perpetual grow with 1 tent

2. Can easy yield over a lb in roughly 11 weeks from germination with 4 plants in a 4x4

3. No night cycle ton interrupt. This means I can water when I have free time any time without fear or light leaks

Those 3 reasons are good enough for me. Although that being said I’m doing a photoperiod run this winter. Again the beauty of autos is that once they are nearing completion I can start my photoperiods and shave a few weeks of vegging them out as the autos finish up. Then flip to flower :)

Had 9 plants in here (including the missing cup) all at various stages.

I hate autos. But that could be due to my poor experience with them. I had a bad run with 3 bubba autos giving to me. All 3 flowered around 3 weeks old I don't know what I personally did. I did my research on here mostly. But I didn buy the seeds like I said. So next time I'll try with me making the purchase of my choice. And hopefully yeild more than 1/4 lmao. So photos for me for the win
