How do you guys water your plant when you first plant it

I have a 2.5 gallon bucket. I am going to be using soil. To my understanding you soak coco, but how do you guys do soil. Im thinking 8oz of water for when I first plant the seed. Would you guys do more, less, or the same. After watering do you guys think I should check the soil in three days, or every day? I personally want to avoid my over watering problem. Does different soil show when its dry better than others as well. My soil never feels real wet, usually feels cool and damp.

What soil do you plan on using for seed germination? I recommend mixing perlite in there for better aeration.

First just moisten the soil in a larger bucket with your "hands" until just moist. Make depression 3/8" deep with a bamboo scewer. Drop your seed in point down. Use some soil from the side of the pot to cover it. Water just enough to close the hole and gaps around the seed. Then just a little water everyday until you get a couple real nodes. Then water the pot to run off. Lift it. This is wet weight. Lift it everyday until it feels lighter. This is dry weight. Water till run off at that time. Most fail proof soil watering I know of.

I may use happy frog, or go to my nursery to check what they got. I used ffof last time. I got bad fucking results, tons of problems with root rot and my soil wasn't even soak, just a little damp. Would you guys recomend give it a good mist everyday.

Welcome to the wonderful world of "all in one bag" soils. FFHF is worse than FFOF for me. Add at least 30% coco to it. And definitely just mist once it sprouts. That stuff will burn it.

What do you mean by a little though. Thats subjective.

I noticed. Why make it that strong. Mabe build a soil then may be better.

Just cut it to meet your needs. 30% coco for growing. A solo shot glass worth of 80% coco/ 20% soil in the middle of pot for the seed. This is just the begining of an overwhelming journey on soils. But learn to build from the bases available. And they couldn't say complete grow without the concentrations.

Try to get roots organic man it’s good. I’m moving away from fox farm products lots of marketing ok products in my opinion. Only water when they get a dry likely not every day.

The problem is starting in pots. Try starter trays 1"x1" or dixie cups. Solo cups if you have to have the biggest. Less is more. K.I.S.S..
Agreed I used solo cups and very small black plastic planting squares with great success you need a small pot that drys out fast. When I say pot I just mean anything you plant in...

You need a small soil mass as to not develop a pond 2" below the surface. And a good mist once a day should keep it moist. A vapor barrier or dome is hghly suggested by myself for humidity in trays.

I put a cup of shit glass on top of the plant and water AROUND the plant. Becuase you don’t want to get water on the stem or too close to get damping off. Keep the stem dry. Let the roots do the searching

I like to wet coco before potting it, I think I get it more airated than watering it in the pot and watching it compress, as others have suggested use a misting bottle.
