How do you measure milligrams of THC in homeade cannibutter?

Im having trouble determining exactly how much mgs are in each serving of edibles. I heard from a friend that its 1 gram of dry weight equals 1000 milligrams then u divide thc % of the cannibus you use. Im just looking for a little break down of how to determine milligrams. I also want to know how much is a dry gram of cannibutter worth? Thanks in advance!!

Truth is you don't, its all guestimates unless working with hash, then it is a little easier to guage still estimates though. I use 14 g shake for 4 sticks butter/coconut oil.

Take it to a lab. Give them a sample. Pay them $100 then go to 2 more labs and do the same thing. Then when you get the results then you know what you have.

BTW make sure you wash the butter. That's basically throwing it back in a pot and simmer with water for a few hours then strain and place in the fridge to separate. Then once separated repeat that process at least 15 times total. That removes all chlorophyll and plant matter. Gets rid of that front lawn taste so it tastes more like butter.

That's proper. I hope you decarbed the material before making the butter too.

Done a few batches without decarbing and got good feedback. But for stoners like myself we want something stronger i now see why i need to decarb, to actually activate the thc components. Thanx for mentioning that, it made me do more research!

Wouldn't the 30+ hours of exposure to 210 degree temperature be sufficient to decarb? All of the heat vs. time graphs I've seen says so.

30 HOURS at 210 degree? You'd probably end up with nothing but ash. Decarb in the oven for 30 - 40 minutes at about 240 degrees (older, drier bud will decarb faster than moist, new bud) is all you need.

Make sure to grind or chop the bud before putting it in the oven.

That's how I do it.....I was talking about being in a crockpot for a day, not in the oven. They probably don't even get to 210, that was an overestimation. Someone mentioned decarbing the material before making butter but I think it would not be necessary if cooking in the butter for so long as some people do.

No offense, I just wanted to be sure I was reading you correctly. I didn't want someone to misinterpret the graphs and cook the shit out of their green in an oven. I understand your method of decarbing in the crock pot is in lieu of cooking in the oven so I understand what you meant now. If that's the way that works for you and you're happy with the results, keep doing what you do.

After much reading, I found that for myself, cooking the green in the oven as described and then infusing the herb in melted butter in a double boiler or crock pot for 2 - 3 hours seems to extract a high percentage of THC in as little time as possible without risking destroying any of the THC in the process. My way may be faster by maybe 26 - 27 hours, but I'm not trying to say my way is better.

Just a question - How green is your cannabutter? Since I haven't tried your method, I'd be concerned that much of the herb would dissolve and leave a higher amount of green plant dissolved in the butter. If it doesn't, I'd love to hear your feedback.

I actually don't do the crock method for a day. Dude, I'm still trying to figure out what the hell I was talking about because I know that is a ridiculous amount of time. I believe I meant 3+ hours at double boil temp which is about 200-210.....and the 0 is right next to the + so it came out as 30+
I was under the influence of edibles......

You are correct though....I recently did a 6 hr in the crock and I really don't like how dark the butter came out, I won't be doing it again. I used 80g of really good trim to 1.5 lb butter and the taste was way too weedy. Not sure if that was because my trim to butter ratio or the 6hr cook time, or both. I usually do bubble hash in coconut oil double boil, but I tried some butter this last batch for recipes that don't go well with oil.
I like how clean the infusions are with bubble hash but it's an extra step which is the worst part.
