NO the trichomes are sticky so water runs off, bud wash is to get all the fly shit,spider shit, dust etc the best way to wash is fill 2buckets with water then dip in water upside down and then right way up in both buckets, give them a light shake then hang

You Don't have to wash. It's just my preference to have clean weed, especially since I do almost all edibles. I could eat it without washing it but I'm really not into eating dead bugs, bug shit, or any of the crud that settles on plants.

Sometimes it's a little difficult to grow here in Oklahoma, but when the weather and the bugs cooperate you can grow monster plants here. After the ground is ready to plant there's not much to do until harvest. Just water and keep the bugs off.

It kind of sounds like you may be using a little much DE. When you put is in or on your soil you shouldn't be able to see it. It just takes a very light dusting. That's why I spray it on instead of dusting.

Oh yea you were the one who said mix it in a spray right ? I'm bout to try that cuz this clumpy shit is making my soil all weird

Spray is how the farmers do it. They can't dust because of what it does to peoples lungs. You don't want to breath it. Get it in yours lungs and it stays there.

I watched a leaf hopper on a leaf. It stood up on it's nose like it was going to suck juice and stayed for a very short time and left. I watched that leaf for a couple of days and there was no damage. If he had managed to bite it there would have been a hole and maybe brown spots.

It' much easier to keep the bugs off than to get rid of them.

I'm learning that too now that I just need to stay on my game..but I dont kno if I been spraying too much neem oil and dead bug brew..i alternate them like every 2 days but these last few gave light sprays each night ..one of each on each night..but it seems to be keeping leaf hoppers away

That's a lot of stuff to be putting on the plants. The only things I use are DE, BT, soapy water, and yellow sticky traps. One thing, if you are growing outside you are going to have bugs. You can cure most of the bug problems by ordering in some ladybugs.

During the couple of weeks I've been a little down there has been tripe damage but not enough to worry about. It must just be where we live but the plants just seem to take care of themselves. I do so damn little it makes me feel guilty.

Last year we had a volunteer grow along the fence where our compost was. It was 3 or 4 feet tall before anyone even knew it was there. We just left it alone and almost forgot about it. Anyhow, when it was over 6 feet tall and starting to flower we decided to water it. For whatever reason I think that when we watered it we destroyed in natural defense and the goats ate half of it. What gets me is that until we messed with it nothing bothered it, not even the bugs.

Damn! Crazy how until when u watered it, it was good..I'm overthinking too much for real..I think my biggest plant is prerty strong and i havnt even done any training on it..I will get some lady bugs but do you think because my backyard isn't closed off they will still stay around? I'm gonna stop spraying for 3 to 5 days or so and see what happenss

Yea, Bug are bad here too. Here it's termites.They will get you every time if you don't prepare for it. Other than that few other bugs. Fence it. Put a snake inside fence so it can be seen for rabbit's .Come back in a few week's check on if it don't rain.Other than that just rain and sun.Thanks for reply. Heart of Dixie

That was really a strong plant. It was growing out of pure compost. That's probably what kept it alive. If I had of let the plants in the garden go like that they would have been trash.

Total bs, that oil slick is just that, hydrocarbons from air pollution. Washing off terps

I’m gonna buck the tend and vote against bud wash, whenever possible. There are times it’s necessary, but in.my experiences it kills the smell and changes the texture of the buds, not for the better! Certainly there are times you must wash, bug infestations, use of certain products, like diatomaceous earth (for pests) and certain sprays or extremely dusty conditions. Never had any mold issues after washing.

Morning Dances. Do you have any problem's with other folk's with male's around you.Have friend's from there did not like growing there a lot of problem's came here.He was a grower there before it was ok too.Dixie

I don't do those things that grow super big buds. The bigger the bud the more likely to have mold, rot, or bad stuff. I leased some ground to a couple of growers for two years. They had huge buds, most with mold, rot or just plain nasty. I accepted a bag they gave me and thru it in the compost. It had been washed but there was no way to get it clean.

I try to keep mine clean right from the start. With all the rain it has been easy this year. After the flowers get going good the blower will have to come out. I don't let the water just sit.

The only ones I know of growing around here are the commercial growers next door and the folks that grew with me the last couple of years. I haven't had problems with males at all around here.

Where in Dixie? I would really like to take a tour of the deep south. I don't get to take much time off for travel, tho. Got to take care of the farm. Ms DWW just got back from a tour of the Holy Lands. She has wanted to go for a long time. Finally did it. I'd just like to see some more of the US.

I'll just say the middle part about 1 hour or so from Bham deep in the wood in the middle of 4000 ac. Been here my hole life Love it. Only if i could grow like y'all.Understand i am a Gorilla grower true Outdoor grower. But come on down a lot of stuff to do and see.Dixie

outdoors - i'm not smoking bug-ass when the harvest is done.
i always wash and/or rinse my ganj. even the indoor stuff. dust happens, and fans blow it around.

as long as you're not thrashing your buds and branches around in the water like you're whisking morning breakfast eggs you'll be just fine. trichs are NOT water soluble, but they are crystalline so will crack/snap under stress. be gentle, swirl gentle with the intent of NOT breaking trichs and you won't.

you'll be surprised what kind of crap you clean off your buds (even indoors!) and be grateful that you do/did. you don't wanna smoke that sh*t.

oh... important safety tip: also a good idea to hang it all in a well ventilated area right after you clean it. dry it of the rinse moisture first. then do your usual ritual of trim/dry/store.

someone mentioned using peroxide above. yes. do so (if it's necessary). it can kill live bugs and molds that have dug their way into the buds. dilute it of course. the hydrogen peroxide will break down and become water, and leaves no chem residue on your harvest. i use it with organic grows with zero adverse effect.

I've seen some use rocks or stones, and say it helped...anybody do this ?
