Myself personally do not recommend narcotics for any purpose except for adult recreational purposes. There are some extreme situation where narcotics can be used to save someone who is going into traumatic shock etc.
My wife has had six children without even so much as an epidural. Some people prefer to go through life completely narcotic/alcohol free.
I can't tell anyone what they can do and what they can't do because they'll do what they want anyway. Statistics prove this.
