How early can i sample a bud and will i get a buzz?

it'll taste like shit and probably not float you a buzz, but if i feel i have to i quick dry by putting an little bud in an envelope and letting it sit on the ballast for my light

so i got a plant that has been flowering for close to over a week and one of the buds looks so nice it has trichs and mostely amber hairs on it i was wondering if i could just cut that one bud off and dry it and be satisfied? help please?
