How far do you keep your 315W CMH bulb from your plants?

I am having some trouble with light stress (leaves canoeing, leaf edges curling up etc) and I was wondering why. My cmh was about 40cm away and temps were pretty normal, but I still had light stress. It wasn't until I got it about 60cm away that it stopped happening. Is this normal? I could get my 400W hps closer, but I guess a 315W cmh is much more intense. What distance do you use?

60cm is fine

They have about the same light output. Iirc my plants were fine 30cm away.

Got pics of the plant and details of your grow?

Depends on your bulb and reflector too. Some concentrate light into a smaller footprint. I use adjustable wings.
