How in the world....?

How in the world do you grow an outdoor guerilla crop without getting mold or mildew? I imagine if you plant a crop outdoors then it will almost for sure get mold when its in middle to late flower unless you're in the desert. Any advice would be great. Im in the northeast US.

I go out every couple days and pick caterpillars (budworms)off. their damage, poops increase as they get bigger and lead to rot. I don't want to use BT. Unless the greenhouse could be totally enclosed a few can always get in. Its one reason I don't want really tall plants I wouldn't be able to reach the top.

so I have to watch out for caterpillars and mold. I appreciate the advice but...I still do not understand how a outdoor grower keeps their plants from getting mold or mildew(considering they don't like in the desert where the humidity and rain and very low).

some Strains are mold resistant.
really, that's all you can do is plant a mold resistant plant? edit: I see you have a nice outdoor grow in your avatar. How do you do it? Is it always low humidity where you are?I grew indoor before and I couldn't even see the mold or mildew on the plants...but when I smoked it...I knew it had it. Made me sick...

Grow a strain that finishes fast and beats the main rain. Last year I had some purple kush finish oct. 3rd and beat all the rain.

Yep, and as deePTokEn indicated, go with mold resistant strains.

I really like Purple Maroc for this. It's a popular strain in the rainy UK and for those more Northern. It's finished for me around end of September for the faster purple stem pheno and it seems to resist mold.

I do backyard, so it's easier for me to go shake the branches after a rain. That helps, along with keeping slugs and other nasties away.

Thanks I didn't know caterpillars caused bud rot. I will keep a close eye on mine.

if you don't have a mold resistant strain, be ready to hack it early and be grateful for what you do get - welcome to guerilla growing.

I'm in the northeast as well, and all I can tell ya is... some years are better than others. This year...not being as good as last... Thaht being said.. I planted ak-47 last year, and beat the rot season. They were all harvested and dried by sept 15 :D
But... I also had a sour jay, and strawberry diesel that didnt finish as fast (mid-late oct) and ended up just pulling them early. I'd rather have all my weed, a lil immature, than a 1/4 of it mature....
