you probably dont want the tips that come out of the shell to reach a length of more than 1/2". as far as days, it can vary. you could also soak the seeds in water for 24 hours, this softens the shell so the seeds pop easier. after soaking in water for 24 hours, plant into your choosen medium. anyhow, either way works:leaf:

i've left some for 2 weeks and slightly longer, 2'' roots and first leaves growing in the towels.... :p. to some, the longer the better, as a pre-sprouted seedling will grow immediately with no waiting for sprouting.

that seems just as good if not better, but i assume you would have to continuously have to keep an eye on them so they dont dry out from lack of moisture . it seems easier and safer to not get them that large for germination, especially if the seeds are expensive:bigjoint:

no, just take another plate (same size or slightly smaller) and put it upside down on the one with the seeds. this makes a humidity dome, and the towels will not dry out, even after 14 days.

dude, honestly
you should even think about germing before you got you shit together(pots.soil.nutes.ph meter.varies if you doing indoor or outdoor).
has your seed popped out yet?..or still trying..
i usually have 100% germ rate is when.
i take tap water, and let is sit in a jar for 24hrs. Then i just throw the seed in there.
it will flot for the first day, but by day 2 you should be able to poke em down, to sink.
then leave it for 2 more days, and BAM! you have life.

i've always thrown em on a towelette, between two plates, kept at room temp or slightly warmer.

good luck :)
