How long can I leave my plants without water?

Considiring it did not rain...how long can I leave my plants without watering them?

I might be able to go evrey weekend...is that enough? And if I cant, will it kill my plants?

Iv heard of diffrent water retention products...

Polymere crystals, vermiculite, mulch and transplanting plants deeper could help...what are your ideas?

i water every week or 2 depending, i have gone longer too. i guess it all depends on what stage the plants are in and how big they are compared to the size of your container and what medium your using. i am using pro mix and it seems to retain the water well without being "muddy"

if this is a outdoor crop i dont see why you cant water every weekend as long as temps stay somewhat cool, i mean there is really way too many variables to give you a solid answer here its kind of a self judge thing

being in the ground vs containers will help considerably. as will a layer of mulch over your grow medium. water polymers do work my mother swears by them for her container gardens but my snobbish friends say they can taste them in the ganja, i myself can not. and have used them in the past with success. but latey just having big holes and mulch is enough to go a week between waterings in all but extreme hot weather.

Perfect! Yeah, the plants will not be in containers...i will dig holes either 3x3 or 2x2...not sure yet...so if i make a bigger hole and plant the roots deeper and put a big layer of mulch ... i should be ok for at least a week...

yea, I grow a lot of plants from seed, I deal with a lot of males, so I have to routinely check my plants at least once a week between july and sepetember just to haul males, and I figure might as well bring water while I have to check on them, so I will water most of my plants once a week. Ive had certain plants go the entire year without a single watering from me, other then when I first transplanted them into ground. As long as it is not scorching hot where your at, and still get lots of precipitation, I don't see why you could not get away with watering only once a week, depending on the rain situation you could go a couple weeks. But remember, one of the keys to monster plants is lots of water.

deeper roots find water better also. something to keep in mind. if you are willing to do the work and dig big holes you will be rewarded, nothing sucks more than digging big holes when it's cold and shitty out but just get it done and in fall it will be worth all that mud and slipping and sliding around.

Im thinking about planting here in the next coulple weeks. im going to germ my seeds this week. what prep work should i do to my location.

well technically u were supposed to do prep work like 5 months ago BUT THERE ARE SOLUTIONS! im doing my first summer grow this year and didnt know about doing all the tilling and shit in november. just make sure i till it really good. if u have grass, cut a section of the grass out, flip it over and it makes for really good plant starting. your also need a way to keep animals away, theres sprays and shit but nothin better than a good ol fence or a guard puppy, i will be using both. but if ur growing without a card both of those will give away your garden. just make sure its a steady 50-55 at the night low before u put them babies outside or they will definately die/be stunted. GOOD LUCK SIR!
