Some strains won't amber for weeks after their ripeness date and will continue to go amber after the harvest so why waste all that power twiddling your thumbs waiting. Lay the buds in the sun for a few hours to amber them faster as UV does that fast.
I just leave my grow light on their usual time and crop when I'm in the mood. I take the big ripe colas first then go up to another 2 weeks letting the lower buds fatten up and ripen before finishing them off. If the light's are on when I'm trimming so be it. It makes so little difference you would never notice any change in the buds waiting the mythical 36 hours or whatever the bro-science dudes are claiming this month. Kind of like flushing. It will remove nutes from the soil but removes nothing from the plants themselves. If a person doesn't overfeed during growth then you just have to use water the last couple weeks and ideally you'll see lower leaves going all yellow and limp which indicates the plant is stealing nutes from the leaves to feed to the buds. If all your leaves are dark green to the end then you've been overfeeding and will probably taste it in your buds.
