Nice looking bud but i swear just looking at it i can see its not dry. And did you harvest a bit early?

I would let it stay out another night and then jar it.

Dry 4-5 days by hanging then jar it...my last plant smelled like that too...be patient 2 weeks to cure (burping form the jar)....if u want to test da budz - I'd suggest the CFL quick cure method, theres posts on it here how 2. Good luck!

When you cure the bud over time in a glass jar (allowing air in everyday and moving the bud around) The chlorophyll will convert to sugars, losing that smell and making it less harsh to smoke. You should cure for 4-6 weeks.

yeah i notice that after about a week or 2 the smell should be back and tastes about 100% better then when u put it in...the longer the better of course...

I have this same problem 2, I harvest one of my first plants on friday. Before I chopped them it had smelled of light citrous, and from then on it smelled like some kind of slightly decayed plant matter. I think my problem was it dried to quickly, it basically hit that 25% of wet weight mark after 2-2.5 days. The weather was so nice that it was 85 in the top of my grow tent where I was drying them (I put up black shirts and garbage bags to limit the light up there). I've tried some out the last couple nights both with a bowl and a vaporizer, and the stuff smokes very smooth and the smoke doesn't smell bad, and it if fairly potent too. I think the smell is starting to revert back to something nice though, I've been curing in glass jars with those metal lid contraptions and a rubber/plastic something seal on it (burping 2-3 times a day).

well thats good its starting to get better.. what strain is it?? jw cuz my 1st grow was just some bagseed.. from some mids i had. and when i dried it.. and even cured it.. it had a "hay" smell to it.. and it never really went away.. mine dried kinda fast tho too.. like 3 days...

some people say to cure it with a couple orange peels in the jar.. to give it a little taste.. and u can use apples i guess too.. or if u dont want anything fruity... u can take a few fan leaves off ur plant and stick them inside the jar with the buds.

this almost always is the case...hay...fresh grass...whatever...its still a plant and you just cut it up, so thats what it smells like

then after a dry, and then after it cures, does the true smell prevail
