How long from germination does it take to show sex

three sour diesels on day 25 from seed under 400w MH and foxfarm ocean forest. Looking for any signs that will give me an idea of the sex of these beauty's. The tempature ranges from 74 - 85, RH ranges 45-65, the plants all have a strong smell of bud already which I don't understand because there's no pistols from what I can see but I'm not seeing any "nubs" either . Maybe you guys can help me out .... Check out the photos ... Btw all plants are on their fifth node and if something doesn't look right to you guys let me know

Pretty little plants very nice job thus far .......there not guna show sex until you flip lighting and ask them to .....they look nice though ....did you just water right before this pic or did the lights just come on again ...?

@18+ hours 8weeks+ some plants won`t ever show sex but most do

@16 hours 6 to 8 weeks

@14 hours around 4 to 6 weeks to show sex

@12 or 10 hours 2 to 4 weeks (unless 12/12 from seed then around 4 to 6 weeks)

around node 5 to 10 most photos will give some idea of sex even in veg

from node 2 onwards autos can start to sex some sex as soon as they pop

in a week or 2 swap out that MH for a hps and they`ll sex even at 16/18 hours but they will get tall pretty fast too

Course every plant I've grown indoors will show sex when it reaches sexual maturity around 4 weeks ,lighting doesnt matter . Outdoors can vary more but usually by 6 weeks

I`ve done 14/10 from seed to finish, 12/12 and 10/14

showing sex and budding are not the same thing but they still do it a bit faster if you run them 18/6 for 2 weeks then flip to 12/12 or 10/14 or 8/16

Still strain and what your feeding them plays a big part lights and such even airflow humidity and temps play a role

don`t normally do 12/12 form seed anymore as I need size over speed them beans gotta earn the 25p to £10 I pay for them, lol

There are threephysiologicaldevelopments that must occur in order for "flowering" to take place: firstly, the plant must pass from sexual immaturity into a sexually mature state (i.e. a transition towards flowering); secondly, thetransformation of the apical meristem function from a vegetative meristem into a floral meristem or inflorescence, this is all visible once you can see sex appear on the plant.. An external stimulus is then required in order to trigger the differentiation of the meristem into a flower. Thisstimulus will activate mitotic celldivision in the meristem, particularly on its sides where new primordia are formed. This same stimulus will also cause the meristem to follow adevelopmental pattern that will lead to the floral growth..bud begins to form


the time for cannabis to become mature is not reliant on photoperiod.

mybpoint was that if you had ever run 12/12fs youvsee it wont start flowering till mature anyway. . . veg 2 weeks then flip and you get better yields while flowering starts at the same time.

which yea i wouldnt do tuat with bought 10 packs. but great fpr us with a couole hunred seed of one strain to burn through stock and reveg the keeper to mom out..


but even plants vegged 24/0 still take the same time frame to show sex. landrace sat or ndica

triacontanol or seaweed the fuck out of them in veg and they show sex way faster, but why waste the money when using that crap on budding plants gets you more buds

I kinda like it better when they don`t pre flower before node 10 or bigger then you know your getting a beast of a plant, well indica dom, sativa dom you might just be in for a year`s flowering (bless you Mozam sativa you were worth the wait but never again) lol

Ok wow didn't think this thread would get this much attention ... I understand everything you guys are saying this is not my first grow . It's just a new strain so I wanted to try to get an average usually I wait until preflower then switch over to HPS And wait before I go 12/12 ... I'm just going to wait one more week and see what happens if it just grows without showing sex then I will switch to HPS but usually I see preflower about this time but this is a new strain like I said so I wanted to see if I could come up with an "average"

Yeah I did . I watered then took the pictures so that's why they may seem droopy

Can be different for different strains, but... if your environment is right and you dont over/under water most indicas and hybreds will show preflowers in 35ish days... in veg state.

May be faster if you you do 12/12 right from the start, but not by much.

Your spot on.. DAy 20 from taproot .... Pretty impressed ... But it's just a new strain so I'm doing slight tweaks here and there with temp and lighting height ... And I'm using 400w MH and going to run 400w HPSfor flowering just need to see these preflowers

Question....what does it take for a plant to be pre flower? I've just gone by the number of weeks into veg to decide to put my plant into flower...but are there other signs??

I think what most call preflower is it being mature and showing sex, roughly 4-5 weeks after popping soil but could vary as much as a week. It will stay like that till you drop light levels low enough per genetics(or age, with its facultative photoperiod). It is then flowering the first night of 12/12. The hormones break down in the light and it flowers again the following night. Doing this succesively creates the flower growth.

I mainly grow landrace sats but have grown lots of tga, sin city bodhi most everything from DNA and everything from og raskal
So have done a wide variety of strains

Time that's all ... afghan broad leafs( the strain I'm most familiar with ) takes 5 weeks to show pistols or pollen Sacks under 400w MH but phenotypes do play a roll ... This is a new strain I'm growing so it's day 21 and I've never seen so much under growth at this age and they all smell like fresh buds even though there's no sign of sex
