Just wondering mostly cause I am curious on realistically how long I can keep my favorite mama (7 week old) in her three gallon pot, and how, big, and how to prune her back etc....anyone got a story?
im going on 3 years now the only reason I ve kept her going is trying to trck down seeds to get a male I finaly found them so just waiting for the summer
had one for 9 months before with no problems at all. Was still producing very healthy and strong clones. But she got super big and i wanted to see how much bud shes give me so i budded her.
I have been reading up on cloning lately and five or more years is not all that long. There is a really great post over at ICmag on bonsai moms that is very informative.
I think once you'r mother gets too big or starts to give you problems a clone grown and shaped bonsai style keeps it going and the mom stays small, (1L pot). you could just keep repeating that cycle until you head on to the nursing home. I imagine indefinitely. I would love to keep a few moms around and never need to buy beans again. I smell a new cabinet project soon.
