how long should a 20lb tank last in a 1300 scf room?

Alright...i know i ask alot of questions about co2 but i just want to be sure im not losing any of the precious gases! i filled my tank up Monday morning and it just ran out tonight (Saturday). so it lasted about 6 days. Its running only when the lights are on. I have the CAP ppm4 co2 monitor. The co2 is being dispersed throughout 2 lines each going to an osculating fan. I have two 6" inline fans with carbon filters scrubbing the air to control smell (room is completely sealed, no air is being exhausted). Have 2 vents for my A/C to help keeps temps down. Those are the only 2 holes but always have constant air coming out. So does 6 days seem pretty quick to run out or about right? Would it be better to invest in a Co2 generator? I just want some input if i should go around my room checking for leaks. Oh yeah, there are currently 17 plants in my flower room right now. 7 which are 2 weeks in and 10 that got moved in yesterday. Thanks!!

6 days!Wow!I can play 6 days of paintball and still have 3/4 th of a 20 lb tank left over.I do not know your answer but if you are not doing high watt hid and high heat just you sleeping in there is enough co2.

Running 4kw/HID temps stay anywhere from 87-93 when lights are on. Running at 1500ppm for 12 hours of lights on.

I'm running an 8 x 11 x 8 sealed room. So far my tank is lasting more than a week, first full tank in this room. I'm going to set up my lpg gen for sure even getting 2-3 weeks per 20 makes a gen pay for itself real fast. Especially when you consider your time and gas, let alone the 20 bucks per refill. A standarsd lpg tank can be swappped out 24/7 at walmart and will last on average 5x as long.

My room isn't sealed all that well, but it has 0 pressure. My hoods are not air cooled. I would check ALL off your air cooled hoods if your using them. Even a small leak in a hood that has 300+cfm going through it can exhaust your tank fast.

nope not running air cooled hoods at all. there is absoultey no air getting sucked out anywhere in my room. Its so air tight in there the plastic is sucked to the walls and you can see the texture of the walls. i was thinking about a co2 gen and i could just hook it up to my gas line in my house but the only thing im worried about with that is heat.

Why are you running an airtight room?Sounds like a good carbon filter for vent and good intake would negate temps and co2 need?

Because I have central air and live in a neighborhood where my neigbors are very close to my house. im trying to keep things a stealth as possible. I had the option to seal it up and use my central air to keep it cool. and with a sealed room it keeps alot of unwanted visitors like mites! and where i live it gets up to 95-100 in the summer so bringing in that warm in air wont do too much and i will still have to use a/c

Zdeezy, do you have a regulator and recycle timer, or an actual Controller for the Co2? You said no leaks, in a sealed room, assuming that it is sealed, you wouldn't need to run it all the time the lights are on but in intervals as the levels will hold for a while depending on size and other variables. One last thing I m curious about is do you at least move the air out to a lung and back in?

I have a sentinel evc2 environmental controller with a cap ppm-4 co2 monitor. The room is completly sealed but my dual hose portable ac was sucking out my co2. thats why i had to get the environmental controller. it last about a week now. which is about right for the size room i have.

zd, I just switched from my tank back over to a burner. I'm using a marey 5l water heater as my source. My room is smaller than yours 8 x 11 x 8. You can set up a water cooled burner like this for less than 300 bucks. a standard lpg tank should last you 6x what a 20# tanks last you.

I'm running 40 gallons of water in mine and it stays nice and cool even without a chiller. at 20# a week, it would pay for itself pretty quick. Also makes Co2 less a pain. tying into a NG line is even cheaper and better.

Check out the thread on the subject here on riu.

This is a great thread. I am using a portable AC right now because of budget and a fall out with a partner. So I have a negative airflow and I am running a CO2 tank. I have to refill my tank every 5 days to have 1200ppm constant. I have a PPM meter in my 4x8x7 tent. The estimated cost for this grow will be 450$ in refills alone for CO2. 6 days seems like your doing great! It is not cheap to run CO2 properly. One day soon I will have a ductless mistsubishi split but I am pretty sure my CO2 will still run 250$ in refills

I run c02 so I don't have to cool as much. You really need a tad higher temps and more light than the plants can normally use to really take advantage of it.

For me I calculate it through output. If you are spending $450 on c02 and not getting $450 in product more than without it, It doesn't make much sense to me. Electricity cost was the factor for me. It is cheaper to run c02 than to run the AC more.
