How Long to Idenify Sex?

If you did a dark period before switching the lights, then may e only 5 days. If you just switched it over then it can take up to two weeks I hear. That's why I always do at least a 32 hour dark period.

32 hour dark period?
Do you mean turn the lights off for 32 hours straight?
Will they be identifiable then?
Wouldn't that give a greater chance for hermies?

Yes keep them dark for 32 hours Before switching to 12/12. It just gives the Plant a good kick in the pants. It's affects are not immediate, but it will speed up how long it takes sex to show. Like I said before.
No it will not cause herm at all. I'm positive.

it should take anywhere from 1-2 weeks to show pistils or pollen sacs.

I personally go with at least a 24hr dark period (48 is ideal for me) after the last day of 18/6, 20/4, 24/0 (mattering on what your veg schedule is) and sex tends to show faster that way.

this last time i think i seen sex as quick as 3 days after 48hrs darkness but my plants had a 5wk veg so they were pretty mature already w/ alternating nodes and loads of preflowers.

the 24-48 hr of darkness isnt a necessity so if you dont want to do it you dont have to. ive done it both ways without ill-effect/hermie

if you do go 24-48hrs in the dark you may notice the center of the bud sites will be off color from the rest of the plant...slightly yellow. its nothing to worry about thats generally a sign the plant is about to show pistils.

hope this helps.

My four plants are five weeks old and there are five non-alternating node from the base to the top.. from every one of the nodes there are two green hairs pointing outward.. and they dont look like young leaf formations... I'll still put them all into the flower cycle and I'll see for sure then.. But, does these suggests male plants to anyone??

if you're talking about the same two green hair like things im thinking about then thats preflowers suggesting your plant will be female. Look for your first pistils (hairs) to show up in basically the same spot starting with the top of the plant (main cola) spreading downward.

It can take 1-2 weeks mattering on strain. Sativas generally take longer to flower/show sex while indicas tend to show more early...idk how much of a fact that last statement was..more so my experience so far.

Yea all of the plants will have those, they dont indicate either way which sex the plant is, Im not really sure what they are there for but just ignore those things. I'm starting to get preflowers on my 10 seedlings but its hard to say one way or the other, I think I identified one male and one female so far but can't be sure. Is it possible to positively identify a plant during veg?

Does anyone know if doing a 36 hour dark period can reduce stretch? I would think it might help push the plant into flower and out of stretch faster, anyone have experience with this?
