How long will pollen last in a grow room

Hey guys,

In one of my grow rooms I took to long to remove a male and long story short he got to all my girls and I ended up with seedy bud.

I have since harvested the plants and I did my best to clean the entire room.

I have clones ready to go into this flower room but dont want them to get pollinated, will the plants be fine to go in or is there further steps I should take?

Yeah going to have to get into every nook just curious how did the male get away from ya did u not check ur plants for a while or did it pollinate that fast?

I had a room of 12 hermie on me about 3 weeks before chopping. I made a similar thread to yours. I hammered my room pretty hard. harder than what everyone said was needed. as soon as pollen gets water on it, its intert, no good. I used a sprayer and sprayed my entire room (ceiling, corners, walls, bars, hoods, everything) with 15/85 bleach/h20 water and wiped with towel. then I did it again. then I did it with 20/80 91%iso/h20 twice. then the last time with fresh water. turned on all my fans and let run 24hrs. overkill, yes. but I cant take any chances of there being any pollen to mess my next crop up. so far im week 7 with this run and no hermies. knock on wood

Lol....i love the fear surrounding the question.. Pollen can last years if kept properly however a grow room is a volatile environment for pollen. When a pollen grain gets wet, too hot, or smashed it is no longer viable. The truth of the matter is that by your next grow the pollen is sooooo unlikely to be viable you really don't need to worry about bleaching the room or anything like that. A good average for how long pollen will last in a grow room is about 3 days. If you are very worried simply spray bottle the room well with plain water and let it dry up with alot of circulation and voila pollen is dead.

I had to go away for work for a month and had the misses topping up the res and looking after them, their was one in their I assumed to be male but decided to leave it a bit longer (huge mistake) she ended up comfirming it to be male but was to late unfortunately

thsnks for the info guys, ill just sprsy the whole room in diluted bleach :)

Lol bleach does the very same thing plain water will, if you want to smell bleach in your room for a week by all means..

I'd recommend bleaching after a grow anyways, or at least using some kind of disinfectant and cleaning up. Maybe not necessarily after every grow but at some interval.

This will help reduce the risk of getting any potential pests and kill anything potentially lurking around/keep something from one crop from spreading to the next.

Oh yeah, and when I recently bleached my tent I just sealed it up afterwards and left the ventilation fan on full blast for a couple days, since everything eventually ends up exhausting outside (as opposed to venting into another room). I did this mainly to help eradicate a minor but recurring spider mite problem. (I didn't even wipe anything up at this point, just sprayed EVERYTHING with bleach/water.) Smell didn't last too long under these circumstances.
