How Low Can I Go?

I just setup my 4x4 Jardon and added a carbon/fan/hood/vent setup. Inside temp has been running around 77 with humitity hovering around 45.

I know it is recommended to hang the lights somewhere around 18 to 24 inches due can i go lower since the light it is now vented? If so, how low can I go?

depends on what kind of light you got. my 400w HPS is about 6" above my plants

I am hovering around 16 inches now, but suspect I might be able to go lower. I am trying to avoid any setbacks so I wanted to check with those with more expeience under thier belt.

put you rhand on top of the plants and lower the light until it feels hot.

i have air cooled 600 watters and i keep them about 10" away

As close as you can without causing heat stress.

i had my 400w air cooled hood about 6" away. my plants were beginning to get burnt

I have adjusted them to 10 inches this morning. It is good to hear that you can drop the height requirement a bit when you are venting the bulb heat.
