How Many Hours of Darkness Will Trigger Veg to Flower Transition

Hey Gang,

Tried cloning for the first time and am now growing outside for the first time. Already holding a solid harvest from her mother, so just kind of seeing how it goes and letting her do her thing. So far it’s going really well, some minor issues with wind (she’s super exposed but has an excellent view), other than that smooth sailing.

Wondering when she might start flowering. Strain is Sugar Bomb Punch (highly recommend) it’s primarily
Indica. We are located near Grand Haven, Michigan.

Roughly how many hours of darkeness Before she flips?
Thanks!

That depends on the genetics. Some plants will transition with less darkness some require more. Usually outdoor plants will be showing signs of flower in early august, but that also depends on geographic location.

It varies from plant to plant, and sun access on your grow site. Anecdotally, last year I grew durban poisons that began to flower on July 26th in zone 7b

If your in Michigan you should be seeing buds forming any day now depending on the strain my always go into preflower in the beginning of July and around the third week of july buds are forming
Thanks for the info! Super helpful. I’m not seeing any sign of flower quite yet. Do you grow Indica or sativa dominant strains?

Typically all native plants are a little behind on the lakeshore, but that is due mainly to how Lake Michigan regulates the climate (cooler springs/warmer falls). Not sure if that would play a role here.

Thanks again!

I do a little of both just looked at mine some have buds starting to form and others not yet but will in the next couple weeks for sure. I can see how being right off the lake would make a difference. I'm out here in the woods here's last year beginning of sept20200911_190615.jpg20200911_185724.jpg

I'm south Of you near the Ohio line and only my Early Iranian are showing flower. I try to stick with Indica leaners if not full indicas. Am working on earlier varieties.

All my plants are sexed. They're all showing fine hairs so not sure what you mean by flowering.

Hey there!

Thanks for the info. I just meant showing signs of transition from veg to flower (she is fem as well). Not a hair in sight. From your post is sounds like she’s likely close. Also beautiful girls you got there!

Thanks again!

10 of my 12 have started, and 2 are starting to come in very nicely. Definitely budding a lot earlier than last year on this run. Hopefully the weather is better at the end this year. At least I'm not fighting the PM like I was last year.
